Are you a good doodler? Can it say something about your personality? Experts say so. It passes the time, doesn't it? Because humans were never meant to do nothing, we doodle when we feel we're wasting time; on the phone, at work etc? Plus, I think we were all meant to be artists but our desire for it was stopped at an early age. Perhaps somebody laughed at our drawings or we weren't encouraged, whatever. Take a look at old Victorian journals. Everyone single one of them (from "ordinary" people) have beautiful penmanship and illustrations. And don't forget, art comes easy to every child. They have no restrictions. If encouraged they become Disney animators who say don't correct a child when he or she draws a purple cow!!!! Anyhow, how's your doodling? Draw a circle or a squiggly line and just doodle.

I wouldn't say I actually doodle. I sometimes, shade in pictures with my pencil and then erase them. I will do this over and over again if I am particularly bored. I used to doodle a little bit when I was a kid but now I just shade to erase, it's actually quite annoying sometimes. I'm wasting my lead as well as my eraser for no good reason.

Interesting, very interesting. I think, if you can't stop shading and feel like you're wasting lead and erasers, maybe you should go back to doodling. Shade in some doodles. I think shading is a definite sign of the hidden artist inside of you. Or something like that.

Well, that makes sense. It sounds easy but when I actually try to doodle, it's usually cubes, and abstract shape and the such. Sometimes I use a ruler to doodle, and i even remember when i was a child, I drew a whole baseball stadium from the view of the batter hitting a home run all with my ruler and a pencil. It was lot's of fun. Unfortuately as an adult I have to pay attention because now the course I'm taking determines whether I have a job when I show back up to work in two weeks. I think shading keeps me occupied when I'm bored but I can still listen to the instructor instead of concentrating on dooling or drawing.

I also forgot to mention, I used to get a fine tipped pen and just do contour lines until I filled up a whole sheet of paper. That really killed some time in high school! Man i just wish i could go back in time sometimes.

I doodle all the time. But strangely enough, I get inspirations from my doodling, LOL. I can draw things, lines, boxes, coloring and filling alphabets and whatnot and still be inspired. I came out with some article posts through doodling too; and at work as well. It's a bad habit I've formed, but it gets things done for me, in that sense. Good discussion here..

What kind of articles? I'd love to read them. Plus I'm thinking that doodling is a creative art form not a bad habit. Keep doodling Zed.

Do you add anything to the daisies? Maybe color, or shading . . . a few stems and leaves perhaps? How 'bout adding a pretty bee or lady bird? Just a thought.

I am a major doodler. Anytime and anywhere but specially in classes and boring meetings LOL I doodle while on the phone, and have to have a pad close to my phones or I will be restless until I find one and won't pay much attention to the call. My doodling can take the form of drawings or letters or words or just decorate the border of a piece of paper. COntrary to what many people say, doodling encourages me to concentrate and helps me to focus on what I'm listening to. Actually doodling while in class used to help me to remember every thing the teacher said in class, almost verbatim. Great tool for me in high school.

I dont think I'm a good doodler, but I just doodle for the heck of it. It's kinda interesting. And I like drawing smiley faces.. so I have a paper that shows all the different emotions. Usually I doodle when I'm bored (heehee especially in lessons), or when I have some ideas. It keeps me occupied! :) Happy myLotting!

I hear it's good for the brain and can't hurt those creative genes either. And never forget it's a nice way of expressing yourself. That's my thoughts anyhow.

I am a big doodler. I got in trouble at my old school for doodeling. I told the teacher I can't help myself. I love to draw most of my time. Just doing it through school isn't a very good idea. It's a good way to express myself. Just the thing's I draw.

I am a big doodler, I doodle all the time I have filled notebooks with doodles while talking on the phone, doing surveys, or just instant messaging with someone. I love to draw and my mom is a great drawer and she can draw anything and make it look beautiful she once took art school but didn't follow her dreams. Family came first. She taught all of her kids/grandkids to draw from a early age and we all love it.. some isn't as talented as some of the others but hey it's all fun..

Personally I am known to doodle all of the time lately. Especially at work when it is really Slow and I have nothing else to do. I answer calls at work and input information for people wanting Cabs, and so in between calls or during the slow times is when I seem to write articles and such, or sometimes thoughts to talk about here in myLot, and even Yes doodle. I feel it is a Great way at times to help express myself as well.

I do not think I doodle. Not much idle time. I make big pictures from time to time for posters for display by clients. In the Victorian era art was considered a requisite to a complete education and a proper pass time for a young lady. I like what you say about we were all meant to be artists, but were not encouraged. My artistic streak really came out when I worked in a preschool. The kids believed I was an artist, so I became one.

I always wondered about Victorian education. I always suspected that art was part of it. It's a shame we don't have it anymore. We're barely hanging on to the music programs. And kudos to the kids who knew you were an artist. Love it.

I do find myself doodling while on the phone - I take notes of the conversastion or jot down a word or two and then squiggle all around it or I find myself drawing a sketch of what is being spoken of. I think it is relaxing, I guess.

I doodle! And yes, actually I can doodle a good doodle now and then. I doodle to pass the time, as you mention (talking on the phone or whatever), but I also just sit with a journal now and then and just doodle as I contemplate something. I can often learn something about myself by studying these doodles again at a later time, especially when I had the fore thought to jot a note next to it concerning what I was thinking about.

The interesting part is that we can find something out about ourselves by what we doodle. Looking back on some of mine . . . I truly scare myself.

Hi gtargirl...I do absolutely like to doodle. I used to write on everything and anything in site if I was on the phone or when I was in school. Most of my doodles were all abstract, of no real images. THey would be a series of shapes, lightening bolts, arrows, circles, hearts, and things like that all linked til the picture gets bigger and bigger. Usually my doodles started with a small dot or circle in the center and work out around from there.

The other day I was doodling while on the phone with my husband and he asked what I was doing, so I told him. And then I told him about I remember my grandma always doodling while she talked on the phone. I loved to see what she would draw next. She'd draw butterflys and flowers. And I wondered why I doodle geometric shapes and lots of straight lines instead of curves. My doodles don't usually look like anything they are just patterns of shapes.

Doodling - A doodle is a type of sketch, an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise
occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just
be abstract shapes. Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the
margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class
Hello my friend gtargirl Ji, I decline to say that any on ecould be good doodler. Following is definition of doodler.:-"A doodle is a type of sketch, an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes. Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class."I think, it used to be our pass-time during our class-room/else-where without any intention. Even today, while we are travelling for long kourney and have a paper and pencil, we draw something, which may not be meaningful. I do not consider myself to be good/very good doodler. May god bless you and have a great time.

I dont really doodle. Sometimes I draw some pictures, but its only like once a month or so. But I use to have a friend in school who liked to doodle. He use to doodle on almost everything he got, his textbooks, his notes every thing he found. His exam has more doodle than answers. Some of our teacher use to really get annoyed with it. They use to keep on telling him to stop doing it, they said he would loose marks in University etc if he kept on doing it. He improved a bit towards the end of school life, but he hasnt stopped doing it till today.
