Do you think that wearing black clothing is an easy option. Do you think we wear it too much?

They do say that the colours you wear are a reflection of your mood. Infact it is thought that the colours we wear can also influence our mood. It's interesting stuff! Thanks for responding.

I know that it is supposed to look slimming. It also goes with everything. Some jobs prefer to wear it because it does not show dirt. I think it looks fantastic when accessorized, so it just depends on why someone is wearing it, as to whether or not it is too much.

I think black picks up everything! The very first date I had with my husband, we both wore black and white! Must have been a good omen! I got something on my slacks, and I made the statement, 'black catches everything but the right thing'. But I was wrong; it caught me my husband.

Yes as long as black is not worn at every single outing as some sort of cop-out. Agree that black can look glam with the correct accessories!

I'm thinking about my wardrobe, and I don't think black is the predominant color in my closet. However, black goes with everything, so it is tempting to have a lot of black items just to be sure we always have clothes that match. In the summer I try not to wear black a lot, simply because it absorbs the heat of the sun so much worse than other colors on clothing.

I love wearing lighter colours in the summer and ones that are made from breathable fabrics such as cotton.

In my younger days when I worked at an answering service (which aren't around much anymore with the coming of cell phones), I worked 3rd shift and wore black exclusively. I just picked out a tshirt and pants and off I went. Black is so convenient, no fuss, and easy to maintain. I really like black, it goes with everything!

I agree that black is easy to match with any color and style. In my case, yes I have a lot of black and brown colored clothes in my closet. It's very easy to mix and match them with other colors :)

Yes black and other dark colurs do seem to be much easier to match with other items of clothing.

I love black clothes as I think they are simple and easier to look after. Most of my clothes are black or dark in colour.. I think black is neutral colour really.. you can basically wear black anytime of the day month or year.. unlike white clothes or lighter clour clothes only look good in summer time.. so thumbs up for black clothes from my side...

I do agree that black clothing can be easily matched up nearly any time of the year with something a little more colourful.

Black is perhaps the most favourite colour to be worn! I see two chief reasons for that: 1. It looks really good on White skin. 2. In cold countries, black is worn due to its heat absorbing capabilities. Black colour is an unauspicious colour to wear according to our rituals here, but it came all the way from West as a fashion, and its already covered the fashion world and the clothing industry here in India.

Yes sometimes it is considered unlucky to wear black at weddings for example. However it can be made to look very glamourous if worn with the right accessories. Thanks for replying.

Yea, black grey and white are all easy to wear. They go with anything, but they can get boring too.

Yes especially easy as they seem to suit every complexion. Thanks for the response.

i think black is very dressy looking . u can do so much w/it. i think anytime u are not sure what to wear somewhere u are safe w/black. i don't wear it too much because i very seldom ever dress up or go anywhere that i need to.

Yes, black is easy to wear and just shows Goth mentality and laziness as far as I can see. So many options. We do wear it too much! I think it is ugly and boring. I like grey better or charcoal. I think these two options show alot of class and taste. Black is so common and not even necessarily that complementary. Black and white both are just not that appealing to me.

An interesting and unique opinion. I like charcoal too as you are correct in saying that it is classy and rather sophisticated too. I do like to have a few black 'essentials' in my wardrobe too however.

I love black! I just sort of go toward the black slacks and black skirts before I chose other colors. It's a neutral color, one that looks good with most other things and looks good on most people. I don't know if we wear it too much or not. But that won't make me quit wearing it. I have more black slacks in my closet than you could count!

I know what you mean. Items of black clothing can often provide feeling of safety as we know there is likely to be something else in our wardrobes that will match!

I have a joke that I tell friends when we talk about what we wear most. I say, 'well, today, I am wearing black and white, and next week, I'll wear white and black. In other words, I'll probably have black on next week, too.

I do like the color black from time to time when it comes to clothing. Purple is actually my color of choice or any variation of it. I think that I can look good in black especially if it is a turtle neck sweater or something of that sort. But I do not really make a habit of it too much. I also think that a black tee shirt or sweater can look half decent with a nice pair of blue jeans. It can kind of make a nice style that way. When it comes to black shoes I really like certain types of those. Black sandals and certain other types of black dress shoes can really go great with the right ensemble.

And I might like to add that as far as wearing black too much,no I don't think society is wearing it too much. But as a matter of fact black is actually not considered a color. Because black means actually being devoid of color.

Black almost goes well with anything. For me the benefits I see in black is that when it gets dirty, it is less obvious, has a slimming effect and because it is a basic color, you can easily mix and match.

I agree. These numerous advantages means that most of us do own a large number of black clothes though! Thanks for the response.

I am so guilty of wearing to much black. At least 75% of my closet is black. I really try not to buy black cloths but somehow i keep ending up with more. It is an easy color to wear, it goes with everything and if you want to look dressy black is always a sure thing. I think the problem is if you wear some of these crazy colors i keep seeing in the stores you need a purse to match or shoes or a belt, so its just way easier to stick with good old black.
@UK_Shree (3603)

Thats a good point. When you do wear other colours it does look a lot better to match them with at least one more item and that is not always so simple!

I find this being worn most easily by a few. In fact i have a friend who is dressed in black everry day of the week. His entire wardrobe has more or less similar typ of shirts and trousers and all in black. He is very superstitious about the choice of color.
@UK_Shree (3603)

Yes I do think that it is worn to much, but let's face it, it hides stains easier and makes most of us look smaller. It goes well with everything else we wear. Most everyone looks good in it.

If you wear it every day year after year it can be a lil bit of a drag to limit yourself. But it goes well with everything, usually doesn't show any sort of stains, and even better good when AF is expected or happening.

True. Nice to keep it varied. But it is always so tempting to pick black in the shops if they are offering a number of different clolurs for a particular item of clothing!
