Many people have a habit to switch off their mobile phone at night before they go to sleep. I guess its coz they want nobody to disturb them while sleeping .
What is your habit ? Do you keep your mobile phone On while you go to sleep. Please respond.

I personally do keep my cell phone on for a couple of reasons. First, this is my main emergency number, So, if something happens and someone needs to get a hols of me, my cell number is the number that I have given to people to call. Second, and this is the most important reason that I leave my cell phone on at night, I use it as my alarm clock. I've always been paranoid about my regular alarm clock not working properly or for some reason if we were to lose power while I was sleeping, that it would mess my regular alarm clock up (this actually happened a few times). So, my phone is my back up alarm clock, just in case.

Yes, i keep my phone all the time except when i am charging it. I think it's a good habit to keep your phone turned on as much as possible just in case, to be able to attend to emergency or something which needed attention. People at home don't seem to mind if my phone rings at the middle of the night maybe because they're already used to it and know the importance of the call or message. Mostly, calls at night are the most important calls so we shouldn't miss it.

May be you are right,i was just going through the manual of my mobile phone & it says the same. It also says not to make a call when your phone is charging. I have never obeyed the rule for my phone though its been good with its battery for last two years. I guess earlier mobile phones are tough machines than those of today. What do you have to say about it ??

you are right about the night calls. Some also have professional calls at night. Is it necessary to switch off the mobile phone while we are charging it ??Does it have any adverse effect the mobile ?? i have never done that....

Usually I switched off my cell phone before i go to sleep. Because usually people wouldn't have things to contact you at night. Also the radiation is more harmful while we are sleeping. Last but not the least, I need a quiet situation to have a good sleep.

i turn my cell phone off when i go to sleep.i also have a home phone that everyone knows the number,so if it's something very important they can always call my home phone.that way it also saves the battery on my cell phone and i don't have to charge it that often.

That is a good solution. You don't get unnecessarily disturbed & the emergencies are also informed to you if any. Again you save your battery & also keep you away from some more radiation by switching off your cellphone. But I guess people now a days are so obsessed with cell phones that they don't want to part with it for a single minute.

Hi, uditipanda! Yes, I have a habit of switching off the phone when I am sleeping. Actually, I tend to switch it off when I am not using it. When I have no one to talk to, I will just keep it off. I don't keep my phone on when I am sleeping, not unless I forgot all about it.

Its your personal thing but I believe this communication device is not just for us to make calls but to make us accessible to others. So I keep it on most of the time. One thing though, I love my sleeping hours ,dont want anybody to sneak in to it with a ringing noise.I appreciate your reply. thank you.

I guess the alarm clock in the mobile phone still rings to make you get up even if you switch off your mobile phone .then again it prompts for a switch on. At least my motorola set does that. You can have a try with your mobile. Thanks for the reply. IO greatly appreciate it. have a nice time at mylot.

that radiation thing is something, but ,most of us don't really give it a damn as we keep it in our pocket all through the day. May be keeping it of & away for a few hours during sleep will help our longevity, but how much nobody knows !!!!

Hi Udit, a mobile phone is a device for communication. Now if I switch it off where would lie the purpose of the phone? I literally get annoyed when I am to make a call say, early morning and the already set computer says "The number you have dialed is currently switched off, please try after some time". I feel like throwing the mobile into the garbage can.
I do not understand as to why people do that. I never do so. But I keep the phone in low volume.

I can give you a reason for the people who practice it. You see mobile phones are no doubt a communication device .but they are very personalised,so much that they keep on interfering your environment & time every now & then. So most people dont really want the phone to go ring ring when they are at their dreamworld. They keep their personal environment separate. Thank you for your reply. have .a nice time

No, I always turn mine off before I go to bed and I charge it every night, too. Nobody calls me much on my cellphone but I don't want anybody disturbing me. I just don't see any sense in keeping it on at night. That would run my battery down. Kathy.

Well it's funny that i am going to comment about this subject but here i go, i always keep my phone on however tonight at 12:15 am i somebody i know coming over, parked beside my house and stopped the car, i knew who he was. So i turned off my phone and lights. I knew he wanted to talk about his schooling problems but i couldn't take it one more time, I just had to turn off my phone.
Sometimes enough is enough !!

That is a great way to avoid people !!! I have done that many a times. I will tell you something...If you take the battery of your phone out without switching it off then if somebody dials your number,he will get the response that you are out of range than you are switched off. That way you can avoid the suspicion that you have switched it off deliberately & can also avoid someone you don't want to face. Thank you for replying. have a nice time here.

you see there are people of some profession who just cant avoid people. So for them its better to keep their phone in loud ring all through the day. But most of us want a sound & peaceful night for a refreshing next day. So switching off the phone is the best option. Thank you for replying to my discussion.

hello uditpanda,
well i do not switch off my mobile phones during the night as i feel that someone may be need of any help in case of emergencies. well i use the mobile phone very less. and when ever i call someone or if someone calls then i make it a point to cut short the discussion as less as possible. i believe that mobiles are for emergencies and i strongly feel that unnecessary talking over the phone must be prohibited as it jams the network and people who might need the help of the phone for some urgent need might not be able to contact. i feel that the people who use phone to gossip just for the shake of fun are actually doing crime. they could use the internet for that. well i may be out of the topic but i feel that i have spoken my mind.

I had a habit of switching off my mobile but of late I stopped switching it off but dont forget to keep it at a distance from my bed. I stay away from home and feel if I switch of my mobile then my family might not be able to contact me if they need me at the middle of the night. I however avoide phones from colligues or friends late at night.I just want it to be on in case of an emergency.

I shut mine off just before I go to bed, as I don't need it at night, and it saves the battery if I don't have it on all the time. I do put it on right aaay when I get up in the morning. Since it is the only phone I have, I have to turn it on, so if my kids need to talk to me, they can get a hold of me. I really don't know what I would do without my cell phone, as I would be lost without it. And yet several years back, I told myself I would never have one lol.
