I will have to move every 3 years or so. Do you think I should consider buying or rent?

I think it's better to you rent a house, surely. But I think that anybody needs somentihg to call "home". Why don't you buy a vacation house ? So you can have something really your.

If you're moving every three years, it's better to rent. but renting long term is just getting someone else rich.

I say buy because renting gives you nothing to show for later on.

What is a good mortgage term 15 or 30 years?

It depends, but I prefer 15 year. I like to get things over with. :) But with a 15 year, it does become hard to do--especially when hard times strike. Always have a nest egg somewhere, just in case.

I have been a Milspouse for 16 yrs. I own a home in TN, I've been in OH, GA and now VA. I've rented my house out since 1998. To me it is now an investment. If we would have sold it back in '98 when we got orders, it was only worth $45,900 now it is worth $94,000. So, I am glad I kept it.

Buying or Renting depends upon use of the thing. If the thing is used time to time it is profit to buy it and if it is used rarely then hiring is benefitial.

i think the best is to wait put some cash on the side until morgage interest gos up and then house price will go down at a very high interest rate in 5 years so for now i will rent :)
• United States
11 Nov 06
So you would rather pay less for thehouse atthe higher interest rate than buy now while the rates are low?

buy coz the property will be your eventually & most important when the value of the place goes up, you can use the equity to borrow more money.

Its better to buy if you have the money, you could save more and be confident on it and no more worries.
