I love shopping at $1.00 stores. I can go to these stores and get a lot of bargain brand products at reasonable prices for a few cents less than at the local department or supermarkets. I went yesterday and stocked up on what I call my paper products (toilet paper, paper towels etc. I even got soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent.
And a few more items.
We have several $1 stores in this area, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar. I also like to shop at Fred's.
How about you? Do you shop at any Dollar Stores?

Sometimes but rarely. I know most of it is junk and I have enough stuff. So only what I need. I mostly go to safeway or Fred Meyers or Walmart for my needs. Here in alaska we have $1.49 Stores. Up in Anchorage, Ak they have more stuff in their stores then they have here in Juneau, AK.

I sure do!! I found a cat toy that my cats LOVE!! And it's right sturdy and I got it for a dollar!! After testing my cats with it and seeing how they loved it, I bought a couple more for them and a couple for my mom and her cats and they love it too!! So heck yeah! I shop at the dollar store! Their cards are nice too!!

Wow! That's nice. We dont have dollar stores here. Well, apart from the fact that we use a different currency In converting dollar to the local currency, we dont really have dollar stores. A little over a dollar maybe, but they only sell RTW shirts, pants, and accessories. I dont buy there because the shirts are too thin for me and too small.LOL At least we can get the products that you've mentioned at prices waay less than a dollar here. That's a consolation

We have all those dollar stores here, too. I LOVE THEM!
My usual shopping strategy is to hit the dollar stores first. Sometimes they have overstock items that aren't a normal thing they carry. You just never know what you'll find there. I buy whatever I need that they carry, then head on over to WalMart. I swore I'd never go to WalMart again after my prescription fiasco, but they're still the only place around where you can get just about anything you need. (I do get my prescriptions at CVS now, because it's the next closest pharmacy after WalMart, but do other shopping at WalMart.)
If I can't get it at WalMart, I'll go to specialty shops for whatever I might need.
I'm like a little kid when I go into those dollar stores. I can see that you and I would have a blast out shopping together! We've just GOT to plan on meeting one of these days!

Yes, I shop at Dollar stores. Mainly the Dollar General and one called Just a dollar. Everything in the store is a dollar and nothing more. I like going to that one a whole lot more than the others because there is more things that would normally cost me more at other places. I like to get my bird feed and outdoor supplies at the dollar store. It's cheaper than going to Walmart, plus the birds like the food better. I get most of my paper products from the grocery store or walmart, because I can get the brand I like cheaper. I like to search around before I shop that way I can save even more.

I buy all my paper products, ( paper towels, toliet paper, etc) also laundry products, dish soap, at the General Dollar store. One bottle of dish soap at the Dollar Store sells for $2. at the grocery store it is amost $6. so why pay another $4. for the same thing. You know they are making a profit off it or they wouldn't be selling it for such a low price. I also buy most if not all of my cleaning supplies there too, along with shampoo, soap, and toothpaste. General all or anything that has to do with cleaning. I don't care for the products that Dollar Tree sells when it comes the the same thing that I get at Dollar General. Although they do carry some food items that is way lower to buy than at the grocery store. Example, if you use sundried tomatoes they are a buck there as opposed to $4. at a grocery store. Dollar Tree is good for wrapping paper and bows that sort of thing. Family Dollar is good sometimes if I need a comforter, or a pan or dish. In these times when money is tight, and even when it isn't why should we give a grocery or regular store 3 times what we can get it for at the Dollar Stores. To me that is greed on the stores part. Dollar stores are also good when we need garbage bags or freezer bags also.

Hello Chevee,
I don't have Dollar Stores or Fred's in my country but we do have $2 shop here. It doesn't sell necessary stuff here but it is more to souvenirs and gifts shop. I like to visit this shop once a while when I am looking for decorative stuff for my house.

Hi. Chevee. I have shopped at all of these stores that you have mentioned in your discussion. Most of them have items for $1.00 too. I usually buy hand soap, paper towels, toilet tissue and dish detergent from the Dollar Tree as well. I love shopping at this store because they have very reasonable bargains.

I never shop at those stores because it usually doesn’t last very long. But I have gone to Fred’s before. My roommate and I bought a massive pink rug at Fred’s once and now I kind of like that store. I have had bad experiences with things I have been given to me from my grandmother who shops there all the time. I do like getting their half off candy and makeup sometimes though.

well, I used to really shop at the dollar store alot, but that was really just because I lived in a small town, and we had the crappiest mall ever. basically the only store in there was the dollar store.
I didn't really mind, until I moved again and realized what I was missing out on.
now Ive got a better town to live in with a city-type-deal closeby, so I personally find everything else better and more worthwhile.
I find that the dollar store brands are usually like really not good.
like, theyre not good brands, theyre not the greatest .. oh man, I totally can't even think of the word I was going to use ... xD.
OHHHHH YEAH ! theyre not good QUALITY. :)
but I don't really have anything against it =p
it's not that bad shopping there.
I just ... don't anymore.
peace !

My mom is a frequent customer to dollar stores, and I also shop around dollar stores sometimes. What is wrong with cheap price items? I just want to save some money, and do what is good for my wallet.

We shop at the Dollar Tree all the time. I get most everything, except for a few things. They have a lot of name brand stuff there (since what they carry is always changing) so we can get great deals. They also carry a pretty good selection of books. We also get our dogs toys there. I love the selection of stuff that they have. There are only a few things that I won't buy there and that is detergent (clothing kind), baby wipes, and a few other things.

Hi,
I like to shop at the dollar shop as well. I enjoy taking my time to browse through the merchandises at the dollar shop and sometimes I am able to find some great bargains that are nice and cheap. However, I don't think the items at the dollar shops are durable.

Dollar stores are terrific, especially if they are the true dollar stores where everything really does cost one dollar However, it is not always a bargain when you buy there. For instance, cleaning products with unknown names usually have very little of the actual cleaner and 99 percent water. Also if you buy toilet tissue there, check out when single rolls or multi-roll packs of Scott 1000 tissue/roll are on sale. Usually that one roll of Scott's will have almost as much as a 4-roll pack of the Dollar Store variety, so it's better to buy the Scott's on sale for 50 cents per roll.
But I have a great time buying the dollar coloring books, card games, etc. for kids. It helps my budget and they thoroughly enjoy them just as much as if I had spent $5 for them.
The gift bags are terrific deals, too, as are plastic containers for organizing any room or the garage.
Terrific deal on movie candies, too. Overall, I have a great time shopping there!
