I think men are better chefs than woman and I think I have finally worked out why by studying my daughter, husband and brother.
My daughter is like me when it comes to a recipe. We measure out the ingredients but I must say that we dont do it precisely although we do it accurately!
The males in my family weigh out the ingredients absolutely precisely not a fraction under or over. Therefore perhaps this makes a difference to why I think men are better chefs than woman.

I fully agree with your point of view,I think men are more potential to become a good cook, which in many food competitions and hotels have been proved!
A man's strength, the ability to accept them as I think it is the key to a good cook, although I do not know cooking!

i think men are better chefs because their not as cautious as women. women all wanna be thin and healthy and there fore we never have fun cooking. where as men when they cook they light up they add oil and butter and flavor and they just add life in to the food. at the end of the day their just more relaxed with what they put in their mouth and they generally know what will taste better because im sure they love eating way more than women. cheers love.

I think in the professional world there are more male chefs than women (like restaurants, hotels, pastry shops etc) and I know some that are really wonderful I don't think that they are good because they are precise in their measures, actually good chefs I've seen don't measure accurately.
Women, on the other side, are very good cooks, but I have seen very few in a real job in the catering industry. I have seen very good women cooks at home, though.

i think men are better chefs than women. my dad doesn't really do much measuring but everything he cooks taste great. and also, men are less likely to be affected by their current emotional state whereas we women sometimes let emotions take over us to the point that we're not all there even while cooking.

There are many excellent chefs from both genders. But, I would like to point one thing out - people who use a recipe and follow it exactly are "cooks" not chefs. The people in your family are "cooks".
A chef knows all about food and it's CHEMISTRY. They know why foods react differently together and how bowls, heat, and utensils affect the food. They do not NEED a recipe; they create recipes.

Are you serious asking this question! It don't matter. I know a lot of Men who are wonderful chefs. and I know Women who are wonderful chefs. I forgive for asking such a goofy question. To me cooking is cooking no matter if its male or female.

i dont think, measuring out out exactly makes anyone good chef, here in India, mostly women do cooking and are experts in their work. And personally at my home also the thing is same, actually my hubby doesnt even make tea for himself, so being expert is just a joke.

I don't know why men are better chefs than women but they frequently are! I think they are less afraid to take chances with recipes and can be very creative because they really don't care what people think!

I dont think gender has anything to do with whos a better cook. I am a better cook than my sister and my dad is a better cook than my mom. I think its about technique and the receipe not the gender. I also agree with the post above explaining the difference between cooks and chefs. I am a cook not a chef by far. I watch a lot of cooking shows and competions - I could not do what they do one those shows. Take a few ingredients and make a spectacular meal from it. I have to have some kind of directions to go by.
Either way I don't think gender has anything to do with cooking.

I think men and women both better chefs. Men cook fast and move very quickly I think it is the difference between women. When it comes in cooking they both competitive. Now a days many wants to be a chef I think because it has many opportunities abroad and the salary is good. Studying culinary is so expensive only rich person can afford the tuition. For me my best cook to our house is my mom.

Whoever cooks well can be called a good Chef....haha.....well jokes apart, i believe it depends in what context you are talking about.....I am doing hotel management right now and have done industrial trainings in 5-star hotels and what I have seen is professionally there are more males in the kitchen department than females....but that does not mean that women are not there at all, they are there, but men are in majority.....professionally the food production department goes through a lot of stress....lots of deadlines to meet, specially if it is a banquet kitchen....but ladies don't worry I still feel outside the professional world of cooking, you rule for sure.....no one needs to be told how good their moms cook at home,do they ????
They have a different magic.....most of the professional cooking men you ask never cook at home....they love having food which is prepared by their wife's/mothers......thanks for the discussion.....
