I have owned a few shares of stock for the past few years and have purchased more recently. I have noticed a change as more people are buying stock. At the annual meetings it used to be approve the board of Directors and approve the Accounting Firm. Those were the only questions on the ballot. Now I have noticed that several have Shares Holder Questions to vote on. Most want to have an advisory vote on Executive compensation and a few on company policies. I have not seen this much interest in what is going on at Annual Meetings since the Civil Rights Movement when the Companies hiring practices and their investing in the Black Community were the issues. Even the Environmental movement did not seem to generate this much interest and activism on the part of the Share Holders. What do you think is causing this and is it good or bad? If you owned stock what would be your concerns if you attended an Annual Meeting?

What is causing more shareholder involvement must be plunging share value. When share value was constantly rising, many were content to let management have their way. Now, that share value is going down it would seem management does not know what they are doing and people are taking an interest in self defense.
