It is so alarming now that there is another outbreak which is swine flu. I heard it in the news yesterday that Mexico and some of parts of the US are affected with this disease. I'm not familiar with this disease from what I heard it is like a flu. Why there are so many animal diseases now that are transferring to human. I think because of ecosystem imbalance why this is happening. What is your opinion regarding this matter?

The good thing is, we have lots of pork supply here in the country and we don't need to import abroad. So it is still safe to eat pork here. Yes, there are lots of diseases that can be transferred from animals to humans. That is not a new thing. There are some deadly diseases before such as SARS which are believed to have come from animals. Eco-system might have something to do with this but it's more of unhygienic practices of raising animals for human consumption and experimenting different food materials to increase production.

It's so alarming that Mexico now is the most affected of this outbreak. I heard that the government of Mexico advice their citizen to be at home. I hope swine flu would not affect the Philippines. According to the US this is treatable so they advice to seek immediate medical help if we eperience the symptoms of swine flu which is similar to flu.

I think it really has something to do with the global eco problems we're facing due to human negligence. It's indirectly connected to Swine Flu - as much as it's indirectly related to everything else. I think that if we could return the balance in nature, then we'd be healthier and the animals/poultry would be healthier and we wouldn't have these fears of a pandemic. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Well I guess it is because there is unsanitary way that these swines have been treated to. Viruses can easily be transmitted from animal to animal and from specie to specie. They just need to adjust to the new host they are attacking then they are able to live an infect others too. Just like the bird flu that swept across Asia for the past years. It spread from the bird being migratory in nature they easily spread the disease faster because they were airborne.

the imbalance ecosystem must be criticized for so commonly happened animal borned diseases. i think also the present breeding ways of animal should take some responsities. people are willing to breed the animals as fast growing, as inexpensive as possible. we can imagine that what the animals are eating now. how can they not get diseased as a result of quick result and immediate profit? animals also should own the right to live well, eat well. people should take a moderation manner toward our breeding animals.
