well.. i got a new spice rack which included the spices.. one of them was rosemary... i've heard of rosemary chicken before and the spice smells very good. So i slap some on the chicken and bake it up. Hubby looks at his plate and yeapp.. he said it... WHY ARE THERE PINE NEEDLES ON MY CHICKEN. haha. ask me if i was impressed..
Have you ever had any weird comments about food you've tried out when experimenting ?

Pine needles, that's funny. Yum, I love Rosemary Chicken.
I think my hubby would be very careful about weird comments. I am a little sensitive about the fact that I can't seem to cook anything that 'looks' nice. Usually tastes great, but I just don't plate things up very well, I guess. ....not really sure WHAT my problem is. LOL

LOL Sissy aren't men wonderful creatures? Does he have any suspicious cuts, bruises or limps today? I do love when trying something new - we have recently started making chicken tikka at home and we all love it. When I say we I mean I give hubby instructions and he does the practical stuff! xxxx

That's not a comment my husband would make, but my son would. We are always trying new foods and different ways to prepare foods. They don't always go over big with my son.

It's an African dish called maffay ( or something like that ). Her stepfather was from Africa so her mom learned to cook it. The sauce is peanut butter & tomato based & is served over rice. After a very reluctant meal I had served to me while visiting their home I learned to love it. My wife got the recipe & improved upon it, by adding more meat ( I'm a carnivore ). It's hard for me to get her to cook it since it's a full day job.

lol that is weird... i can't say as i've ever made anything that resembled that.. nor would i really be pleased to eat it.. i think good has to be presented at least decent as well as taste good.. but i guess that's not somethhing men care too much about.. or most men i should say.

I bet the chicken was good... You know when I try something new I make it look like something I have done before . he he he.. If you can fool the eyes they won't say anything until after they have eaten it. LOL!! I love my man and he is usually ok with trying new things but every now and then he does poke fun at what I make. LOL!!

That's great that the little one is walking around and that you're able to get some stuff done. :)
Mine are doing all well.. We now have two dogs. One is a yr and 5 months and the other is 6 and a half yrs old. The yr old I got as a pup, but I just got the 6 and half last sunday the breeder I bought my first husky off of was retiring her. She is cute and sweet. The kids can't wait til she gets use to her new surroundings so they can give her a lot of love. :) She seems to be very unsocialized. But I finally got her to take food from my hand .. I'm jumping up and down inside about that. :) I'm glad that you all are doing well. I have missed you hun.

I feel you all the way. You don't be very impressed with those comment do ya.
I remember once when my children where here and I fried some chicken. Well I seasoned the chicken with a new brand of seasoning salt that I had bought. My son taste the chicken and replied this chicken taste funny you must have fried this is some old grease. I wasn't impressed at all. But I never used that seasoning salt again.

LOL I don't cook, so I have never been asked. I don't know if my husband has ever been asked either, but I know people who would probably ask the same thing as your husband, if they were in the same situation. This is way too funny. So tell me. Did he end up likeing what he had on his plate? Did it taste good, to him?

I love the taste of rosemary chicken but I crush it up before putting it on.
My son who eats with me a few nights a week would be like your husband. I fix
a lot of spicy food to avoid using salt. He should be thankful you even bother to cook much less try new things.I hope he tried it so he could taste how good it really is. Never had any adult say anything but their children are the ones who come up with the "what's that?" do I have to eat it?

hehe The only kinda salt i use is when i cook like stew and i add soy sauce.. that's pretty salty, but other then that i use different spices too. i'm loving this new spice rack! I will try crushing it up next time. he did try it. and he liked the taste.. but he didn't like that they looked like pine needles. Pft..

I'm having a hard time responding because I'm still laughing.
My husband is actually a really good cook and does more experimenting with new stuff than I do. My kids, on the other hand, have had a few comments about some of the things we have made over the years.
My most memorable one was when I made homemade beef barley soup. My son(then about6 or 7)announced quite adamently that he was not going to eat oatmeal soup.

lol mm oatmeal soup sounds.. oatmealy. lol. my daughter just says she doesn't like anything new. and then she sits there for a LONG time till she tastes it.. and then she says oh yummmm, or spits it out if she really doesn't like it.. i wish she'd just try th ings without the fussing! but she's two.. so i guess it can't be helped right now. guess that should be my hubby's age too. lol.

Rosemary certainly does look like pine needles! But it's delicious when you put in on rolls--butter them, sprinkle rosemary on them and wrap them in foil. Bake them for about 10-15 minutes and they are heavenly! The butter/margarine softens the herb and leaves the flavor.
I haven't really had any comments like that, my ex ate nearly everything I cooked and loved it. I bet you got a good laugh out of the comment your husband made!

Hey Sissy! Well, did he at least like the taste of the
"pine needles"? I think men are just so ridiculous! They
just don't ever know when to keep their mouthes shut! I
could see my boyfriend saying something just like that too!
I also have to be careful when experimenting because he is
so fussy and picky that if I just do something just a tiny
bit different he is going to freak out! I hope your husband
was able to get past the pine needles and enjoy the chicken!
