De-junking the house lately...

Our neighborhood has been very cooperative in solid waste management eversince our city implemented its new rules in waste segregation. They also distributed a pamphlet on how to separate wastes like batteries, old light bulbs, scrap appliances... I've notice that my neighbors are also on the process of de-junking their homes... selling stuffs that are no longer working instead of getting stuck inside and could be potential hazards too (eg. televisions have mercury). So I guess it's a good idea. I've noticed that "burning garbage" is also reduced in the community. One neighbor told me that these junks could turn into cash from bottles, plastic containers so our household also devised a system on how to discard these and sell some to the junk shop. Have you joined a "de-junking revolution"? If so, what are some of your amazing experiences and changes in your community?

i haven't really tried ever since. our community here is worst than you ever think of. no discipline even in the inside of their houses. all i can do help mother earth is to minimize the use of plastics as containers. i recycled things at home. it also saves me money form buying new ones. im planning to bring a big basket when i go to the market so i can stuffed in everything.

I see. That's a good thing that you minimize the use of plastics however most of the packaging today (like those packaging in grocery store)are made out of it so it is really a great challenge on how to minimize it. Good luck! Recycling is also a magic word and yeah I've tried also bringing a big basket when going to market. Very nice.
