What flowers're popping up in your backyard for spring?

For us, we've had daffodils, violets, mint flowers, and dozens and dozens of dandelions! It's been wonderful to hear the humming of all the honey bees visiting us. What about you? Do you also have your own flowers, instead of just wild flowers that come up every spring?

I have violets and dandelions, two of my favorites! I have a nice cluster of violets outside my back fence and mowed very carefully around them--they've grown big and beautiful! I'm going to plant some morning glories there, too, I have to get them started in peat pots today or tomorrow. I just love driving along and seeing a field of wildflowers. I think lawns are so beautiful when they are full of dandelions and don't understand why people hate them so!

I never understood why people despised dandelions either -- they're so useful, and really, they add a look of real LIFE to a lawn or field...and they harm nothing, anyways. I'm wincing at how our grass is getting too tall and we have to mow -- though our neighbor mowed just yesterday and half of the dandy's from his lawn are back already, which gives me hope. *just really doesn't wanna discourage our dear friends the honeybees!* Morning glories! I've some to plant outside soon too. These flowers I understand why people dislike them, they're agressive and prolific little flowers...but they're sensitive plants and prettyful, so I think it's okay to risk people giving me glares for when I plant mine -- I hope your flowers continue to do well!

Well, our flowers aren't up yet, but we will be having geraniums, and mums, petunias and marigolds mainly. The more color i see the more I like it. But, it's going to be a while yet before things start to really fill out.

I was just thinking about the flowers that pop up in our yard every spring and how we have so many that we want to move into one of our other gardens. We bought this place about 3 years ago and have flowers everywhere, even places we don't want them. The first flowers that poke their nose out of the ground here are the Crocus. They only get about 4 - 6 inches high but are beautiful. We have a few tulips that come up but they are hidden by big shrubs that have taken over the front of our yard. We will get them moved to a better spot, maybe even this year. We get daffodilis but where they have been placed in our yard causes them to come up later than most of our neighbours. They need to be moved to the side of the house or garage where they will get more sun and heat so they will come up earlier. We also get hundreds of little blue flowers. Each plant has about 10 little blue bell like flowers on them. They don't last long but it can be like a carpet when they all show up at once. We also have lilies at the front of the house, right against the wall that come up early. We only have one flowering right now but it's beautiful and seemed to almost appear overnight. We have other flowers that come up early as well but I haven't figured out what they are yet.

so far the jonquil/daffodils have bloomed as well as the crocus plants. The peonies have buds, but they won't open for another month - same with the tiger lillies.
