For a few years now I have wondered were the world is headed? I am not talking the religouse end of the world. But a man made massacur of the human race? We have had these super flue, and terorist floating around the last few years. We cant seem to stop anything, just postpone it or hold it in one place ( like the bird flue). I cant help but wonder sometimes, are we destroing ourselves?
Some people may think im crazy or something. But I have made some plans to help protect my family and property. I havent gone nuts, and dont have an arsinal, but we do have a couple gunes and our property is fenced in. We grow or raise most of our food. I can every thing from our garden, we raise 2 beef cows a year,We also have chikens, and i have learned to sew. I just wonder if anyone else is quietly making sure they and there family will be allright ( just in case). I have always been a firm believer in better safe than sorry.

I agree. I dont even watch the news any more. I check on the internet and read what I want, so I dont have to hear what some crazy idiot did to some one else today. That is also why I love living in BFE. I and my neighbors know every one around here and everyone watches out for each other. I dont even have to lock my doors if I dont want to. If a strange car pulls in my drive, one of my neighbors will ask keep an eye on them. Weither I am home or not.

I know what I should do (and I do want to prepare), but I don't have much money. I guess I should work on my survival skills. It would be a fun world to live in (in a way). I almost look forward to a global catastophy because it would force us to live differently and hopefully in a better way. Does that sound nuts? Anyway, if you've been following the chatter about 2012, that may be the year to be ready. There are so many things that could go wrong.

I dont know what 2012 is. But you dont have to have much money to start being prepared. I started years ago, just buying a couple etra cans of things we eat or an extra bag of beans when I went shopping. I started out with a plastic underbed container. When that got full I had hubby build me some shelves out in the utility room, it was out of the way. You can start out small. There are also sights that will help with starting out. You can find info on emergency preparedness, packing carry along emergency bags. even plans on how to get your family safly home if something were to happen. I have a small bag in the trunk of my car for just such emergencies. If you want to know more or get help in starting out just search for servivalist sites. some seem to go overboard, but even on those sights you can find helpful hints on serviving many things.
Also I dont think your completely nuts, I have chatted with many people who are disatisfied with the way the world is and wishes it would change. Some think that this is the only way that it will ( a catastrify of some kind ). I would also like the world to change some, but would not be willing for it to happen at the cost of peole's lives. But who really knows that may be the only way it would ever happen.

Well I guess since man has learned to innovate for himself to survive there is a part of humanity that leads us to self destruct. But in all those years that has passed by us we always survive and prevailed over it. The WWII was just an example that was indeed a chaotic time for humanity but then somehow we prevailed over it somehow. Now, we are bombarded with all these misfortunes I guess that humanity will soon find its way to survive from these onslaught of ourselves. As to when is the end I really do not think about it that much because we will all meet our own end sometime in our lifetime and worrying about it too much is just a waste of time. So right now enjoy life as much as you can and when the our time ends indeed at least we could say that we enjoyed our short and sweet life than just thinking that you wasted your life fearing that it is indeed the end of us.

I dont worry so much abought my self it is protecting my family that gets me going. If you are a parent this is especially hard to contemplate. How can I protect against this? kind of thing. I dont think I am wasting my life worring abought it, I think I am making sure that I keep my reasons that make life wonderfull ( my family ). I am more afraid of something happening to my kids than I would ever worry abought somthing that might happen to me.

This sort of question exists in literature back to the beginning of literature. We are, indeed, endangering ourselves. At the same time, though, we are enriching and improving just about every aspect of life. We humans are complex and each of our multiple facets reflects a different view of things going on pretty much as always - with highs and lows and joys and sorrows.

You simply do not understand. Things are getting better. When times are good, we sit back and enjoy the ride. When adversity hits, we have to think, plan, study, analyze and grow in so many ways along the journey. Everyone wants nothing except peace and happiness but that does not make things better. Drama brings resolution. Relax and enjoy the show. As far as destroying ourselves, worry not, our guardian will not let that happen.
