No time to brush my teeth, I am hungry!

Yes, today, I was late and woke up at 6'o clock and by the time my washroom gets engaged with my family members. My first job after getting wake up is to brush my teeth and start mylotting. Since, the washroom was engaged and I had no patience, I started my pc and start doing mylot. It is 9:48AM now and I was hungry at a little while ago. My mum asked me if I want to have breakfast. I said, "Yes!" Mom, "Have you brushed your teeth?" I said, "Yes" yes, I lied because I was hungry and didn't want to waste time by brusing my teeth. So, I had enjoyed my breakfast and will brush after I complete mylotting. LOL! Any such incident with your life when you were just too much in a hurry that you didn't ride your bike but walking beside it?

I usually brush my teeth right off when I get up and long before I eat anything. I don't want to be around anyone with my bed breath. When I was growing up,it was pretty much the same. I don't recall my parents ever preaching to us to brush before eating breakfast. I don't think it really mattered to them as long as I brushed. I just have always been aware and self conscious of that early morning breath and don't want to be smelly around anyone.

I think my parents might dispute your observation on me being a "good kid" for them. trust me on that.

You were a good kid for your parents. For me I was not a good kid as my mum had to run after me to get me a brushed teeth before me getting any breakfast. I won't say that this phenomena is still with me but sometimes, I mean exceptions are every where!

No no, It isn't that bathroom didn't get vacant but yes I was so involved with mylot that I couldn't resist me from doing it. Hence, i didn't get a break and keep on mylotting until my mum asked me for breakfast!

You're 27 years old male and your mom is still asking you if you brushed your teeth in the morning? That's kinda funny. I usually brush my teeth after the breakfast, not before.

Usually my brush time is at 5 in the morning and if once I missed that time, I use to get off from my pc at or after 1000 hrs. So, I have to be hungry till that time if I missed it in the morning.

Why do you brush your teeth before in eating a meal, doesn't your food taste weird then? I also just gargle with water and then after I eat, I brush my teeth. Because if you brush your teeth before and after, that's just a waste of water right there. Plus, whats the point if your teeth are gonna get messed up again, just wash it after. Your mom is probably old fashioned huh?

No, it does taste weird when I don't brush before taking my breakfast. So, it wan't that good when I took my braekfast before taking brushing my teeth. Your mom is probably old fashioned huh? I don't like you comment very much, you don't have any rights to say anything against my mom. You don't know my mom at all

I am not yelling at her but I was showing my anger towards her last line of response. I would have accepted it if she had written it like: You are a little old fashioned huh? I mean that is acceptable because I am here and I am putting up my views, so I can be an old fashioned guy but did she know anything about my mum? No, Did I say anything against anyone's family? No. Then I would not accept if anyone is going to go against my mom. Even if it is being said with politeness! She is not getting the same respect which I am giving you. Sorry.

whoa...my friend sanadoodoo...she is just asking a question, not saying anything bad about your mom. You are misunderstanding what she is saying.. I am glad that you protect your mom though..It shows you really care about her even if you are sneaky.. Ok, you can yell at me now if you want to..I can take it..but you wont cause you are my friend!!

I do sometimes skip brushing teeth when waking up in the morning, i just gargle water and eat my breakfast. Right after eating breakfast that's when i brush my teeth. In your case, i guess that's fine as long as you brush your teeth after your breakfast but of course it is much better to brush teeth after waking up because you'll never know who will come and talk to you that very moment. So to avoid embarassment it's better you had fresh breath. I think your family was well trained for that which is very good habit. About similar incident, yes there's loads i guess that i experienced such as no time to eat breakfast - that's when i am really in a hurry in the morning. Happy mylotting!

That wasn't for the first time I had skipped my breakfast. I used to brush my teeth at 2PM on weekends as I don't have any work on those days. I mean they are weekly off, isn't it?

Not a big deal if you not brush your teeth before taking breakfast. there is no where written about it. it is that you should brush before taking your breakfast now you can brush after taking the breakfast. not much difference in teeth if you do this way. what you say? I know sometime not get enough time to do the necessity which should be done but you should aware that you can do before dinner also. you pick your nose this way. dear, no harm in one day if you not do the brush but make it habit. take care. bye.

It is about my thinking. I think if I take breakfast before brushing, I believe that I don't like the taste of food very much but then again, a hungry person doesn't care about taste!

Naughty sanuanu telling his mum fibs! Aren't you a little too old to be asked to brush your teeth? When I was your age (here I go...I sound like a grandma...) I would brush my teeth when I damned well felt like it and no one would tell when to do it! Doesn't it make more sense to brush after you had your meal anyway?

I have never done it in my life. You know people around the world posses different culture and different way of living. Here in our country, if you visit our villages, you will still see a lady covering her face when she is out from her house. We are still worshiping a God's statue made by stone. We are still worshiping cow as our mother and the river Ganga(no matter how polluted it is)'s water is still used to make food for three day in an year. So, customs with every country is different. Same with the brushing thing. We use to brush before meal and in fact I was surprised to know that many of user here are brushing after they take meal!

Hello sanadoodoo..now If I was your mom, I would go check your tooth brush and find out its still dry.....Maybe I should tell her you are being sneaky.. But why do you have to brush before you eat? The purpose of brushing is to remove food particles and things in the teeth and clean them. I think food tastes funny if I brush first and then eat but then again we use flavoured toothpaste too. Do you also have to brush after you eat then? Do you use flavoured tooth paste?...I have to know what they do in India so I will ask. Thats how I learn. Ok, that should be my next discussion..who uses flavoured toothpaste??..

I am quite amazed that every body is asking me why do I brush my teeth before breakfast! Yes, here in India we do brush our teeth in the early morning as well as late in the night after taking dinner but I am only brushing my teeth in morning, pal! No, I don't use flavored toothpaste but I use a simple one.

So, is it your habit that you brush your teeth after breakfast or you are doing it becasue your doctors had asked you to do so?

I think the difference in habits is part of the difference in cultures and thats what I find so fascinating to learn. Thats why its great to have friends in other countries and learn what their daily routine is like. Ofcourse we are not all going to be the same or do things the same and see, we just found something that we all do but differently. I think thats very interesting.

I don't think by brushing our teeth four or five time, he is going to be wasting water that much. If you take bath twice in a day, then it can be a problem.

I don't know if many other members have commented but it is kind of arbitrary to brush your teeth BEFORE. You will just clog up your teeth with more crap.

I can eat even if I don't brush my teeth first but I can go out without brushing my teeth after I have eaten. I brush every after meal because I hate it when my mouth smells like the food I have eaten.

Some people don't even brush their teeth regularly. Although Waiting until after breakfast is most common here so that we can go out with a clean mouth and not the taste and feel of a pop tart, eggs, or whatever our choice meal of the morning is!

That is a nice point. Yes, I can smell people's mouth and tell what they have in their breakfast but for that we use to clean our mouth by gargling. So, that the smell gets away from our mouth.

I don't understand why you're required to brush your teeth before breakfast... We usually just gargle so that we won't have bad breath when we talk with others while we're eating together. After breakfast, that's when we brush our teeth. It's more important to brush teeth after meals rather than before :) But if I lived with your house rules. I think I would have lied about it too :D Thanks for the response on my discussion!

We in our place, brush our teeth in the morning and used to even drink water after brushing our teeth and once again we do it at night after taking dinner. I am doing it since my childhood so, it is now one of my habits.
