being a teacher

your situation is really hard. if you will tell him the wrong thing, he might be thinking that you are under estimating him, or he might think that you are dictating him what to do. In this sense you have to talk to him what really interest him. since he finished b-tech, being a jobless should not be forever, it is just a matter of waiting for the right time. as of now, i am a civil engineer but still jobless, i have to look for other jobs until i find out that there is a vacancy for engineering that i may apply. if i am accepted then that's the time i will move out from my current job. my teacher also last year, he has been a taxi driver for 2 years yet he is a civil engineer and now he is the head of the mathematics department in our school.

First you could try telling him not to give up and keep trying to get a job that suits his needs, because one should never give up on what they want. However, if he is still insistent that he would like to be a teacher, ask him if that's what he really wants. If he says no, then tell him once again to consider other options, perhaps even further studies! If he says yes, then I guess you could either tell him that he shouldn't waste his talent on teaching. I'm not saying that teaching does not require talent, it indeed requires a lot of talent and is a pretty tough job! I'm just saying you could say that instead of directly telling him he doesn't have what it takes. Or you could ask him to give it a shot, what if he actually does have the teaching skills or gains some? :P Ask him to refer to websites for teaching skills, perform some searches and suggestions on what makes a good teacher!
