As you all know I was terminated from my previous job, but now I got a new job with less pay. My previous salary was Rs 12,000 and when I was depromoted my salary changed from Rs 12,000 to Rs 9,000 and now my new salary is Rs 6,000, which is very less, but something is better than nothing. I have to find some extra money to pay my bills and may be some online programs and myLot is good to earn extra money. Have you ever been in the situation where you get only half the salary than you earned previously?

i was in this situation and frankly, if i had known beforehand what a big difference a difference in salary makes, i would've have tailored my decisions on this. i would've have had tried to figure out first what was wrong and tried to adjust with my last job .

Hello ajithlal, I had the same experience back in 1997. Due to economic downturn that time, I had to quit my job as I couldn't get my confirmation after a six months probation and most probably, will be terminated later if I don't quit. As I didn't want to be unemployed, I just grabbed whatever job that I could get. I got an offer to work in a four star hotel but the pay was much less. I had some commitments that time and decided not to be choosy. I cut a few expenses that I didn't really need and to cover the lost, I used up my savings. I was lucky that I got another offer a year after that.

I think saving money and cutting down expenses always helps in our life when we have no income or less income.

I can understand ur feelings, really, because this also happened on me recently...... When I came to some companieshaving a interview, when they asked my expected salary, when I told them, thwy said that't too high and this is a special time.... I think it is rediculous...Yes, there is a financial storm, but we still have too pay for our dinners, our housing,tranportation....you know the consumption price hae never been cut down since the economic crisis arrived..... I believe wise managers can help their company come over this storm, and good companies won't reduce salary by using this excuse....

I am sorry to hear that. From graduate to now, I get my salary increase all through, but I also ever thought my salary will less one day in the future. So, I try to improve my ability everyday and also try to find some other way to earn money. But I think you want to earn much money from mylot is not a great thinking. Best wishes to you.

Unfortunately, I have been in the same situation! I was working as an investment banker and lost my job. I went from making 120,000 a year and now I make 25,000 a year as an EMT. I am back in school and will soon be making back around 60,000 a year, but still HUGE ADJUSTMENT!

Everything happens for good and most times the plans God has is more than what we think. I am now happy in my life and got a good job and good pay. Life is like a coin I think. Good things and miracles do happen in life.

I'm so glad you are able to have a job, and I admire you for seeing the bright side of things. There are a few people in my church who have lost their jobs, and they still cannot find anything. I know they would pretty much take anything, but so far they haven't been able to find another place of employment.

Yes, i faced that situation in 1986 when i was working in Muscat, Oman. My salary was 300 Omani Rials which was Rs 11000/= . Its equivalent today would be about Rs 60000/=.In 1986 the oil prices crashed from $ 45 a barrel to $8/ barrel. There was mass retrenchment from all the Gulf countries and a worldwide recession just like now. In those days the value of the dollar to rupee was $ 1.00= Rs 12.0. Well, half our staff was retrenched but me and a few were given the option to leave or stay and work at half pay which was still good since pay in those days in India was extremely low. A four figure salary was considered to be vey good and anyone who broke the 1000 rupee barrier was envied. And a pay of 150 Rial was terrific, infact pay of a CEO in India in those days.

For sure money is truly important. And I'm with you when you say you get not enough pay for your job. But sometimes even we get few dough with our work, for as long as we enjoy what we're doing, it won't matter that much anymore.. Well of course unless if you have your own family, that'll be difficult.. There are other ways to earn extra money.. Like myLot, and part time job. As always, it's always, "No pain, no gain", anyway, goodluck with your new job...

I have never experienced that and that makes me feel very fortunate. I am sorry that you are earning less but I am glad that you are again employed and you sound a little better than you did before. I hope you're no longer as stressed out as you were when you had your first job. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

it's really hard to accept that your salary has been cut by 50%.But as you said, something is better than nothing, especially in such serious economic situation. Many people cannot find a job as 6000 per month as you get.Don't think it too much, after the dark period,I believe you will get what you lost right back.

I'm very lucky .I don't have such experience.I even can not find a job yet. So if you really think you're unlucky, just look at people like me.I even don't have a job now.But I'm not depressed, at least I'm earning money from mylot. So try to do best with what you have, you are not the worst one.You have time, opportunities and the most important, yourself! Happy today!

First of all, congrats on getting a job so fast. Secondly, don’t think about the salary part, be glad that at least the money is flowing in and you don’t have to touch your savings. But yes, in these expensive times its quite difficult to accept half salary. I have never had to face this situation though I must say that I have never joined any place with very high raises either.

First of all i want to still congratulate you for having a new job even that job is less pay. Like you said its better than nothing. That is a very positive outlook in life. Personally i haven't got a job that pay me more. It always pay less as that what we only have here and right now i have no job. I was jobless for nearly two years now but God is still good because He let me know and give me the knowledge to use my resources at home which is the computer and internet. That's what i work for nearly two years now as a freelancer working online. I know this is not forever job, sometimes earnings is slow sometimes its good but i am not losing hope to find a real job that will give me security when it comes to financial and of course security of fulfillment. Anyways i believe that luck and success is just around teh corner, the only thing i need to do is to go and make it happen. I am still thankful for little blessing that i am having right now. have a nice day and happy mylotting!

Yes something is better than nothing. I just opened up a company and work as an Insurance Consultant right now and I have to say my salary dropped for 50% but I am not giving up! I know that time is tough, but if you work hard for it, you will have the results that you want *smiles*. Wish you good luck with the new job, something is definitely better than nothing.
