Ronnie O'Sullivan has recently made comments about how snooker is "Dying" as a sport, and is "boring". Surely such comments coming from a top player are only harming the sport further?
Would it not be better if Ronnie kept his mouth shut and concentrated on thilling the crowds by performing at his brilliant best?

I'm not sure that he should "shut up and play". He should certainly play because he is the most naturally gifted player the game has seen and there is no-one more entertaining to watch. But, as for shutting up, I have to admit I enjoy the controversy he causes when he makes these kinds of comments, or decides to play left-handed because he's bored. I think these outburts add colour to a game which has lost most of its characters. I think we also have to understand that Ronnie suffers from depression, and some of the comments he makes are just a reflection of the way his illness makes him feel. His comments may harm the sport, but the sport would be harmed even more if he decided not to play at all, so I think we have to see these comments and the damage they do as a small price to pay for the privilege of seeing him play.
