I would like to try and reduce my cholesterol levels a bit, but I am reluctant to take medication. Can someone recommend natural foods that would help me bring my levels down a bit. I have done some reading and I see that soluable fibre, from foods like buckwheat, can help. I'm looking for a few other foods I can incorporate in my diet as well.

Hello! Tips to lower cholesterol:-(1)Instead of eating simple carbohydrate(refined flour, sugar, sweets, pastries and pasta)eat complex carbohydrates(whole wheat, brown rice, oats, barley, wheat bread, beans, lentils and dried peas).(2)Increase intake of soluble fibers, loke oats, leafy vegetables and fruits with skin.( 3) Avoid foods sources of cholesterol like eggs, liver, kidney, brains etc.(4)Avoid trans fats like pizza, pasta and pasta, fried, frozen and packet foods. To increase the good cholesterol do some physical activities.Increase intake of omega 3 fatty acid(fish, walnuts, soyabeans, flax seeds. Finally quit smoking. If you follow this your cholesterol level may be at controlled level.all the best.

Eat oatmeal, or add it to your meals. It can be the instant or longer cooking. I like to add fake sweetener to mine along with cinomon (helps regulate blood sugar) and nutmeg. Also cherios (the one with the honney bee)it will lower it. Another thing that will help is to eat an apple every day. It will make you full and so you will not be able to eat as much of the food that may be bad for you.
