I was checking my emails today, I did not look at them over the weekend, and came across an email from Paypal saying that I had sent $220.00 to, there was an email address, that ended in au. I guess that is Australia. I went into my paypal account and sure enough it showed that I had sent $220.00 to someone.
Paypal, is great because I had a message from them saying that a suspicious transaction was made, and they labeled it as an unauthorized transaction.
The bank account that is connected to my paypal account has a zero balance, so this person wouldn't get any money from me anyway.
Have you ever had someone hack into your paypal or any other account, this is the first time something like this has happened to me.

I hope you didn't go to your account via the link in the email. That is a classic phishing email to get your password. Many sites will know your Paypal email address but they lack your password to gain access.
Sad that the world is full of such crooks.

No, I didn't go to the account via the email link. I was really surprised when I say that I had sent someone I do not know $220.00.

I just opened a paypal account so that I can get payment from mylot. I was pretty excited about having an online account and was planning to maintain a certain amount of money in my paypal. But since I read about these kind of discussions, I guess I would reconsider. I was planning to link my debit card to paypal, that means I should really monitor the amount I have in the debit card and try to check any emails from paypal asap.

Paypal is really safe. I was very impressed that they caught this fraud. I received an email confirming money I sent, knowing that I did not send any money to anyone, I checked my paypal account, and someone had sent money to themselves, I am sure. Luckily, I did not have any money in the account that was linked to paypal, and paypal was aware of an unauthorized transaction.

We had that happen about a year ago. Somebody had taken a fair portion of money out and since it was attached to our main checking account they wreaked havoc with our bill-paying abilities for a time. I had to call our landlord to tell them to hold onto our rent check for nearly 2 weeks until we got it straightened out. Fortunately we had a phone number and address for the business that ran the payment thru;when we called them on it we got a refund right away. 2 other transactions were refunded to us when we called paypal directly. We have had a hold on our account ever since. We don't use the paypal account without looking at it regularly and we don't have it set up to rip us off quite as easily now.

That is very scary... good thing that paypal has this precautionary measures in case our account gets hacked by these people who have nothing better to do but be a pain to society...
I experienced my email account being hacked... and the person was able to use my credit card to purchase internet items... that was such a hassle... he was not able to get anything because i was able to stop payment before anything was processed...

I am very pleased with paypal, they are on top of it. They are going to try to find out where this transaction came from.

I am sorry that this happened to you.. I would be devastated if that happened to me.. so is paypal going to work with you to figure this out, or are you on your own? I don't know if they will be able to do anything for you.. No I have not had this happen to me as of yet. I keep most of my accounts at a below 100 dollar amount so if one is hacked into, I won't loose everything .. Sorry this has happened to you..

Paypal was aware of the transaction before I was. I received an email from paypal. They immediately froze my account, until I changed my password. Paypal is very good, I can see that from this experience.

I had a small issue with Paypal with one of my other names, but nothing to like yours. But I have heard of things like this happening for many others as well. You would think that there would be a better way to protect us for sure. But when it came to my regular Bank Account I did have an issue, due to somehow someone getting my information via online, and I am in the process of trying to get back all of my funds from it. So I know just how frustrating it can be as well.

I always keep mine fingers cross for such things not happens to me at least. i not confirm the bank a/c that linked to paypal account. i know such things are happening via some way or another but one has to remain careful while receiving any such mail and while opening the paypal account through mail received by them.

It has never happened to me so far. Make sure that you change the password frequently and if I were you I would delete the paypal account and create another one so it would not be a target again. Goodluck.

That's horrible! It's a good thing that Paypal is really a good site to handle our earnings. at least who ever hacked into your account didn't get the money at all. For hearing this news, I believe in the services of Paypal. At least they recognized it as a Illegal transaction. well, if they recognized your email then make another Mail account so that the money can't be tracked anymore.

Wow, glad no one got your money. That would have me on ends. I haven't had my paypal account hacked but my bank account has. I bank online so thats possibly why it happened. Bank refunded me my money and took care of the investigating.

I haven't experience that and hopefully not. I haven't any balance on my paypal account yet but I am planning to just keep it there until the amount is big enough to buy something. I even plan to keep my bank account as a saving account and deposit money on that account but then I might experience the same way. I'd rather keep it as it is right now.

Look like this person didn't got any money from you. It was such a relief. I haven't experienced things like that. I have am IT specialist husband and kept on reminding me to exchange password at least every month (but I haven't done it for a long time). Be careful next time and try changing password once in a while..
