I was wondering how to generate more money for retirement. I know lots of people that are in their 50's and have no savings. All they would have when they retire is social security which will only cover their basics. What advise can I give them to help with generating that little extra income that they can use to enjoy on themselves?

Other than finding a way to put aside money into secured bonds that will hold through any financial situation I dont think there is any other way... right now the economy is not so great so our options of saving any extra is not good.
If there were a way for people to cut back on one thing and save up for a year...then the next year find something else to add to cutting back I think eventually that can add up in an account somewhere that can help out and grow on its own... and then if the economy is better in a year or two they can find ways to invest that.
that is the only thing I can think of!!!
happy mylotting!!

Some of the best ways to generate retirement income are :
1)Have a Property -commercial or Residential which you can rent out to someone .
2)Keep a Pension Plan ready when you are young -so that you get regular income when you are retired.
3)Mortgage options with banks - Loans for mortgaging your property;if your bank has that facility .
Also ,consult a Financial Planning Advisor for more on Financial and Retirement planning .

If anything they may need to consider cutting back now and putting that money they would of put to pay the cable bill in the bank. It's hard to say really because I have a hard enough time trying to generate any current income and I"m still young yet. Notthing seems as easy or fair and one would hope.

I am no guru when it comes to money but there are a few things that come to my mind when thinking of saving money for retirment.
1) I feel any type of savings is a great way to start.
2) CDs and stocks and bonds are great as well but I would advise you to look into that more because I know little about them.
3) Owning a home or homes and renting I have heard is a great way to save as well.
4) Those are a few ways I can think of off the top of my head I hope they help you spark some ideas for yourself. Take care have a good day.
