Virtual communication through Face Book give a sense of being with people?

Its been one year I have joined Face Book and frankly I joined there for just fun. But now after I look back its no more a fun thing to me and in fact it really helped me a great deal in being connected, not with just people who are real but also to know them more intimately.It throws up such a fascinating facets of one's life which would been hard to know of some one who is Hunderd of km away from me. I would like if others been there at Face Book and what their experienced is.
