I think so...i mean that if it was the same story in some other backdrop then it wudnt have been so famous...and well who doesnt love a controversy?

Unfortunately I think it is only famous because of the controversy. I think anything that goes against Christianity or religion will me controversial.

i think 50% controversy and 50% we should give credit to the author for narration and intelligent use of crytography in it.
