I'm not against smoking since it's someone's own decision to cut his life shorter. what i hate most is someone is smoking right in front of me or in any public places. They always smoke without concern about the surroundings. Some people thought smoking can liberate their tension and can relax their mind. But what about the non smoker? they make us gain tensions and can't relax. for smokers, this will happen to you ASAP:Over the long term, smoking leads people to develop health problems like heart disease, stroke, emphysema (breakdown of lung tissue), and many types of cancer — including lung, throat, stomach, and bladder cancer. People who smoke also have an increased risk of infections like bronchitis and pneumonia. These diseases limit a person's ability to be normally active, and they can be fatal. Each time a smoker lights up, that single cigarette takes about 5 to 20 minutes off the person's life.Smokers not only develop wrinkles and yellow teeth, they also lose bone density, which increases their risk of osteoporosis. Now, do you still wanna smoke?

Im a smoker and yes it does relax me and I do know how bad it is for me but I cant help it, but if Im around people who dont smoke I try my best to smoke away from them. Sometimes you cant help it but I do try to make sure I go in another room or outside if non smokers are around.

Apparently, with all of this, the average decrease in life expectancy for a 20/day smoker is five years, though. Which isn't nearly as bad as you're making out.
Equally, men could increase their life expectancy by surgical removal of their testes; eunuchs on average live 13 years longer. By that logic, the best thing male smokers can do is get castrated, as then they can enjoy smoking AND live anything up to eight years longer than you.
Or perhaps, just maybe, it's about quality of life, rather than some race to see who can live longest.
If you're tense about other people's habits, I suggest that's your concern, not theirs. Especially given the rather dodgy light most secondary smoke studies have been thrown into of late.

Smoke doesnt bother me but what bothers me is going near someone with perfume loaded up on them. I am highly allergic and that chemical smell could send me to the hospital. So thats another hazard that we should be aware of besides smoke.

I can't tell smokers to stop smoking, it's their own choice and I don't have the right to do that. Normally, I'll try to stay as far as I can. But I still can't ignore it if he/she blow the smoke to my face! That is so rude! You can smoke, but far away from me and never blow it to my face!

Yes it sure is annoying getting puff at right in front of your face. My husband and I are both non smokers - never lit a ciggy or puff one in our lives and not going to. The reason we eat a lot at home is because we just want to stay away from 2nd hand smoke...it is said that 2nd hand smoke is worst than 1st. But whatever it is, it is all smelly. So I would cook at home or just take away from the shop and eat it at home. I am glad my husband is a non smoker - I can't imagine living with a person who is a smoker..breathe smells of smoke, shirt also smells of smoke, the whole being in fact !

I don't care for people smoking besides my hubby because I love him and I don't want to see him gradually getting problems which possibly might happen, we never know. I feel so upset about him smoking, it is like me killing myself seeing he smokes. I have told him about that issue but he think I am just being dramatic... I feel really blue about that.

Hi flagella, I too feel disgusted when some smoker comes and smokes right in front of our face now even if he is our friend as it makes our chances of also getting infected due to the smoke they release. It happens to me often as when I am in a crowded place or in a cafe in a n open area and somebody just sits besides and starts smoking, we got no choice but to get out of there and find a place elsewhere or ask the person the same thing. Due to smoking, even the environment becomes unhealthy one!!

Now that you say all that, i feel afraid for my bf. He's a smoker, not a hardcore one, but you can say he's quite regular. And i can't stop him from smoking becuase that weould be ike telling him what to do even when i meant well. He'll just probably shrug me off...sigh..Of course i do not enjoy inhaling the smoke but they were in the smoking area and i just happen to walk past so can't really blame them...Well the smoke usually irritates my throat a lot and so yea, smoking will definately not help me to relax my mind...No, i think it's just a perception smokers carry with them to give themselves a reason to smoke. =\ Just what i think. take care.

Me too hates people who smoking in front of my face. Become a passive smoker is more dangerous than a active smoker. But both are dangerous for our own health and life. I think smoker must learn more to behaving on social etique. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

I cant when people smoke right next to me or in front of me either, especially when my little girl is right there, it's so rude, i just want to rip it out of there hand's.
Seriously, that's there decision to do that, but if you see me standing right there with my daughter, why would you chose to light it up right next to us, that's just awful, and my daughter has a serious condition, she cant be around that.
I think every where should have designated smoking areas.

That's right... It really feels irritating when someone puff smoke into your face as if you're a hen...lol! Yes it's relaxing for them but how about others who do not smoke?! My husband is a smoker too and I always tell him to stop from smoking but he refuses... I always tell him that if he don't wanna do it for himself then do it for me because I am the one who use to inhale all his smokes. And they said that second hand smoke is more dangerous than first hand smokers.
