I have been through this many times, and am currently. I guess my only advice is, I know two nights ago my son could not sleep, he was crying and crying and I went to the living room and rocked him and sang to him until he fell asleep. But the minute I tried to lay down with him, it started all over again. So there I found myself, fully upright in the rocking chair, sleeping. I had a bad crook in my neck and I hurt like hell the next morning, but I did manage to at least get a few hours of sleep. I understand your baby is sick, but he must sleep Sometime, even if it is for 10 minutes and when he sleeps, you sleep. Or maybe tell your partner you absolutely cannot go another minute until you get some rest, then sneak away to your room for a quick cat nap. I know it gets tough sometimes, but soon enough your little guy (or girl) will be sleeping soundly again, and hopefully so will you.

Hi Kelly,
My baby also coughing right now, it just the bad season we are facing here. What I do is put the pillow a bit higher so my baby can breath easily and preventing him from chocking when coughing in his sleep.
Normally i will hold him up and walks around my bedroom hahahahaha until he's asleep since laying on the bed will make him difficult to breath and go to sleep.
This is just any mother going through.....from your child is a baby until they grow up. My advise, take your sleep when the baby sleep but sleep with one ears open..
Be patient...

You have my sympathies…I know exactly what you are going thru. I was in similar trouble when my baby was small. He in fact would not sleep at all in the night and snore thru the day! So my hubby and me took turns to share the night and be up with him. You can try something similar…somebody at home has to help you. Its not humanly possible to continue being awake at night and then attend office in the day.
I do hope your child recovers soon.

So sorry to hear that your baby is sick. It is so hard as a parent to watch when there isn't a lot you can do.
You have probably already tried but what about a nice bath for the baby and then you take one (or take one with the baby). The steam or moisture might help the cough.

I feel sympathy for you. it's really a hard task to raise a child up. You have to pay a great amount of care for him. When your kid have grow up,he should thank you a lot. I appreciate my parents very much too.
I think you should take your baby to see the doctor. Really hope your baby recover rapidly.

maybe you should try dabbing a little lavender to help your baby sleep. it worked for mine, but you've got to be careful and make sure its not too strong so place your head where you would place your baby's and dab very very little lavender but enough so it could be smelled by the baby, remember the baby's nose is sensitive. hope i helped. and good luck. cheers love.

Sorry to hear your baby is sleep. I know what you feel. We have an 18 month old. Their is nothing tougher then having a sick baby. You really feel for them and want to make them better. My daughter does the same thing. She will stay up when she is not feeling good. I just love on her and baby her!

How can you even keep your eyes open ? And work ? After 4 nights of no-sleep your brain must have gone onto a kind of auto pilot!
Sleep deprivation is used as a method of torture, and I understand completely as it can really affect body and mind .
So, having not perked you up one bit I have to admit that at times like these I used to give my baby a spoonful of a cough mixture with caused a little drowsiness. ( over the counter medicine for babies over 3 months old, perfectly legal)
Baby slept for a few hours, I slept for a few hours and I felt just a little less crazy. In cases of emergency ( and severe sleep deprivation is!) and if the lavender etc doesn't work, this may be worth a try. I know lots of people who give their children a bit of ' cough mixture' before going on a long plane trip. Needless to say stick to the dose on the bottle !
