here in uk theres been a lot in the news lately about gender discrimination,
do you think its actually hapenning or not both males and females as happens to both genders.
Also am acting as the devils advocate here, do you think a man should be employed ahead of a woman who has let the interviewer know that she will be having kids thus taking 9 mths off work etc etc
also do you think women should be employed ahead of an equally qualified man to work as a PA or in a nursery looking after kids.

Doesn't matter the job, in who gets that job, if the employer is looking for someone in a particular job, regardless of gender should hire the one that is qualified. Has the experience, the know how, etc.
As far as taking Leave for pregnancy, that shouldn't factor in at the time if the female isn't pregnant at the time. That can be dicussed later because that also depends on the insurance available for said employee. It just shouldn't be a factor, if the person has the qualifications, they will also have the knowledge in when would be a good time to take leave and when not to. To make sure that their job is being done correctly while on leave. And as I know some, they are not totally away from the job during pregnancy leave. Calls are made, stoppin in, no different than anyone else taking leave for vacation, illness, or injury. If they are dedicated to the job, that person will make sure it is secure even if they need to take time off.
Jobs have been segrated for many many years... To bad people can't get past this and hire the best person for the job they are looking to fill.
I have two against me, female and age.. so I know the feeling of being told your over qualified, or whatever, just to get you to leave.. it is What it is..
