how to add debit card to paypal account?

Even I tried to be verified at PayPal by adding my Debit Card. I tried this both with my Axis Bank as well as HDFC Bank debit cards, but was unable to do so. I wonder if they really allow verifying members through Debit Card or this is just something to boast about, and only credit cards are things that work there.

I tried the same thing from many months but i am not successful and when i contact their customer care their reply is to better add credit card instead. because it credit card you can see each and every transaction directly on your screen while opening your bank account but in debit card, first money goes into your account and takes time to update and link your account to the paypal account. i lose hope while adding debit card so if you able to do so, kindly let me know. thanks

When I added a debit card, I had to use the bank routing number and the actual account number linked to that card. For example your checking account number. You do not use a credit card format. Use a checking account format and enter the numbers like you would a checking account transaction.
