Can you spend nothing when you are shopping?

I have to say I can but it is very hard. Whether I go to the mall on purpose for getting something or just go to the mall, window shopping, I feel it is very hard to just look but cannot spend money on the thing that I want to get.
I have been doing it though if I go to the mall with hubby, he doesn't like it so I don't even look at the stores.
How about you? Are you able to keep your desire of shopping shopping?

IT easier to do when you have no money literally to spend on besides the essentials. That's why I was a naughty girl yesterday and took a few $$ out of my savings so I could go rummage saling to find some clothes for my kiddos cheap, especially my son. I love it when I get used Nike stuff for .50

I would rather go to the mall on purpose for getting something otherwise, I would spend some money that is unexpected. Thanks for responding! :-)

As me sometimes shopping is a way of entertainment. It may be in order to spend a boring day.So I buy nothing when shopping sometimes. At the stores ,I will try the clothe I enjoy but i donot buy it.After some days ,I will buy many things for one time.

you are right. it takes a whole lot of self control when you are out shopping. i find that most people these days are impulse shoppers which means, they see it, they want it and i think that this is what gets most people in to trouble with credit card debt.

Yes, that's why I don't have one so I won't get myself into trouble, just spend what I have.

Hello mermaidivy,
Unfortunately, I can't. It is hard for me not to buy stuff that I found attractive. If I go with my husband and can't have that, I will go again to the shop and buy it. I have a weird habit too. Sometimes, I will go window shopping many times before deciding that the thing that I am eyeing for is really worth buying. And before I made my final decision, I will just window shop (for certain stuff) but never go home without something in my hands! Can you call that window shopping too? Well, I don't know! For me, window shopping is not really window shopping sometimes...

I have no problem at all about not spending anything. I've had years of having to be very careful with money, so if something isn't exactly what I need I don't buy it!

if i am with my son in the mall then i'd really buy something for i cannot resist his pleas. besides this is one of the reasons why we decided to have an only child so that little whims, occassionally, would not be deprived because of another sibling.
anyway, i can go about in a mall without shopping for anything. diet prevents me from buying a lot of food. there is only a limited no. of styles that work for me. i also go buy my color palette. not to mention budget. also i'm sensitive to a lot of scents in the form that it manifests as a migraine so products that have scents, which are almost everything, had to have been personally tested. otherwise it would just end up in the bin.
i think if a person has guidelines, knowledge and will to stick to what really works then it is possible to go about the mall without spending anything.
peace!

Even when I'm not in the mall, just regular junk store, I feel like buying stuff for my puppy or some cute stuff for my hubby but they are cheap like less than a buck for those cute things so it is fine.

I spend something nice when I go shopping because I have to look the product that I attracted and look at the prices every mall that I visited and make a canvass before buying.

I havent gone window shopping in years. If I need something I go buy it, if I cannot afford it I DONT go to the mall coz it will just make me miserable thinking of everything I 'want' but cant have. General shopping is different, I go with a fair idea of what we need/want, but if something else is on special that we also use a lot I will buy more if I have enough money with me.

Yea... it is very tempting at the mall and cannot spend on what you really want... I know exactly how it feels like - miserable.
