We must not only be successful we must dress successful. How we look is very important. One must dress appropriately for whatever occasion. It is so embarrassing when we are not appropriately dress and are in the company of professional people. First impression counts. The first thing a person see when greeting you is your clothing. make every effort to have the proper dress for the type of occassion. Create a positive first impression.

I do not know how to dress up and this might be embarrassing to my wife who is a great dresser. Cheers!!

I agree with you completely. Dressing to occasions means dressing to be the person you want others to see you as. You can demand respect through what you wear and how you carry yourself. Of course, you can lose others' respect by acting stupid, and you can earn respect by behaving well, regardless of what you wear, but it is harder, as people subconsciously judge based on appearance, and that dictates how they will act toward you.

I agree with you on these statements, It is always first impressions everyone remembers you buy and dressing for success is a way to get and keep the job. I have been on interviews and since my mom is home lately since she is currently unemployed i ask her how my outfit before heading out the door so i can get a job and be successful with my life. Being in that perfect outfit when looking for a job is so important because how someone remembers you on an interview is from what you were wearing.
Even when not going on an interview and just heading to the store or the mall i always try to look cute because i usually always see someone i know and i don't want that person seeing me looking bad.

I partly agree with you. It is important to dress to the occasion or dress well when you are meeting someone for the first time. But, for regular office, it is not that much required as people already know you and it is the work that you do counts.
In my office for example, you are allowed to wear absolutely anything. Its OK to wear anything as long as you are not crossing the decency levels (I know that is arguable). No one ever complains about it. Many people just wear shorts and a beach shirts with flowers printer on them like Hawaii kind of clothes and they do great work. Many senior managers do not dress well, but no one cares because the work matters for us.
So, clothing is important, but work is more important. Clothing should not be given too much emphasis and people should be allowed to wear anything they are comfortable in.
