Loud noise in the workplace and loud music whether at a concert or from ANY headphones can over time cause hearing loss..I'm not aware of any comparisons with regular headphones to back this up,but I figure that an in ear headphone set will get the sound transferred better with less loss so you don't need it to be at so high a volume to hear ok..OTOH,sealing your ears with earbud phones could cut out external sounds! You pays your money and takes your chances..

There is a reason for exaple metal workers use earprotection at the workplace. You can spend like an hour there without earprotection and think it´s not that bad

Hi there..
I'm using In-ear headphones.Till now I never faced any problems in hearing. They are comfortable than the normal earphones, and you can feel the bass clearer and louder. What you have to take care of is, the volume level should not be maximum.
If you can afford, you can go for brands like BOSE,SONY...They really wont hurt our ears.Cheap earphones may damage our eardrums, but no earphones will cause hearing loss...
Enjoy your music..
Keep mylotting!!

The in-ear headphones actually damages the ear drum when it is used continuosly in a high volume. It also damages the brain when in prolonged use.

"no earphones will cause hearing loss..." This is just not true. That would imply that sound don´t cause hearloss

"no earphones will cause hearing loss..." doesn't mean that sound doesn't cause hear loss.I never heard that he/she is deaf because of their listening to music.Earphones will not produce the sound which will make your eardrums to blow off...Any earphones will effect your ears if and only if you hear to music continuously in a very high level of sound.

basicly any kind of earphones delivers the sound directly in to the ear (the sound don´t have placees to bounse on) so the same risk of hearing loss.
But I have noticed that the bass is not that great my in ears, so you may compensate that loss with highering the volyme. So maybe there is a point to be made there.
Hearingloss is connected to the time spent lisening to high (high desibel) sound
and "bad" sound.

All earphones are harmful to your ears compared to headphones. In-ear headphones have a direct contact to our eardrum that is why it is important to use them only to maxiumum of 15 minutes and have an interval in between. If you hear some eerie noises, better stop using them totally for weeks or so and let your ear rest first before using them again. However, with the isolation system in ear phones provide, you don't have to listen at extreme volumes in noisy places. I think, they kinda protect you ears better than normal earphones somehow.

No you basicly get the same from the both. And the in ears are not in direct contact with the eardrum. It futher in the earcanal than anything else.
And if you hear eerie noices. no rest will do then you are going to have some kind of hearloss in the future.

The only thing that really causes hearing loss with the headphones is having the volume way too loud. These 'ear buds' are designed to sit at the end of the ear canal.
I don't use them much anymore because they give me ear infections. Besides, the outer part of our ears is designed to capture sound so we can hear efficiently. It's just a shame to stick the sound straight in our ear.
