Being a mom and attempting to work from home is a challenge. There are constant interruptions and I almost feel like life was easier when I held a job outside the home. I have been unemployed for 5 months now and I always wanted to work from home but I don't feel like it is going to work out for me. How do you mylotters who work from home do it? how do you keep life from getting in the way. what are your "secrets" to success? please share your tips and stories. what I love about mylot is the support and the knowledge that people share.

Hi NuttyMomma,
If i am in a good position by working from home and if i am getting great benefit, i would never delay in informing mylot members as i wish everyone to be benefited. i too crossed so many discussions asking that is there any ways to get permanent payment, which is also a good income by working from home. but i just saw only "expectations" in all the responses. nobody gave the solution. finally i will quit my job in 2 or 3 weeks. then from the very next month, i will start my home based data entry jobs. if it is successful, sure i will grow this discussion again.
Till that, bye from me..
Have a nice time!
Happy posting!

good luck with your data entry home job. I hope you are successful! do come back and tell us how you make it work for you. From my perspective it is more of keeping focused on working and not being interrupted by family and friends. Of course I want to make money but I want to get some tips on how other people find success in working at home, not really so much how much money they make.

you are so sweet! I just happen to still be here on Mylot. It is unusual for me to start a discussion and watch it happen.

Nothing fancy, nothing special, I'm not earning whole heck of a lot. I have been only participating on mylot in all the paid websites. I just work as hard as I can to earn as much as the return could be. I think the secret is wokring hard, put in more, outcome will be more just like doing more discussions, responding quality discussions help earning better.

I think to make money online you need to be involved in more than mylot alone. mylot is good for learning what is out there and getting advice from others. I am interested in how people balance working from home and their other responsibilities in life.

i have worked from home by doing crafts and selling them on etsy, scrapbooking for money, writing for money and selling stuff on ebay. to be honest, i think that work outside the house is easier because it is hard work. if you kids are younger, you might want to get a teenager to look after them even for a couple of hours so that you can work.

you know something, even though you have to get dressed and presentable for the world and commute and all that other nonsense, it is easier to work outside the home and juggle your life. working from home is convenient because you can slack off on how you look, lol!, but juggling all the responsibilities is harder. I don't need to worry about childcare anymore because my daughter is 13 but I do like being here to keep an eye on her. thanks for your response.

I'd been a working mom eversinced, am always in the field as am in real estate business. I was widowed at 37 so no choice but to work hard. At the age of 53, my children are grown ups and wanted me to stay at home. I still feel I need to earn so I just work part time. I stayed at home but when there are clients for house and lot I go out and close the sales. I do mylotting however while at home and no client to attend to. I'm also planning of going back to tupperware as I hit it big beforin Tupperware as well. In sales we can stay at home the more we want to and stay out also if we want to earn more, but you have the control of your time. I enjoy mylotting and earning even few dollars but I attend to sales from time to time for me to earn commissions.

working in real estate probably gave you some flexibility with your schedule. sales is hard work. I think that some people just have a knack for it. thanks for your response.

I have been home off and on for about 8 years now, since I got pregnant with my first son. After my daughter was born in 2003 I stayed home for a couple more years and I went back to work in 2006. I got pregnant with my son who is almost 1 and stayed home again. I am not good with working while I am pregnant, pregnancy does not agree with me all the time. I am still at home and off and on throughout the 8 years I have found a few things to keep my busy and keep a little money coming in. I started out on Ebay back 6-7 years ago and that was great then, it wasnt as crowded and over populated like I feel it is now. I did some Avon and some Melaleuca. I did some at home babysitting for neighbors and friends. I was with LiveOps for a little bit but for sleep reasons I left them, I wasnt getting any sleep...lol.
Ummm I am currently with Mylot, Odesk, Elance, and Amazon doing some things to bring in a little money. I have applied with Cloud 10 and Lifebushido (sp?) not too long ago and have gotten a few responses.
As far as time that I set aside to work, I really dont. I have 4 kids, 3 of which are currently in school and the baby who is home with me so I dont have alot of time because I also need to get everyday stuff done as well, cleaning, cooking, laundry on Mondays, etc. I jump online whenever I have a moment or 2 available. I try to get the other stuff done while the baby is awake or as soon as I pick the other kids up from school so they can entertain them and then while he is sleeping Ill get online. Or if I can find something that keeps his attention for more than 15 minutes Ill try to get a few things done here and there.
I sometimes put everyone to bed, hubby included, and get online at night for a few hours. They are usually all in bed by 10pm so I can stay up till midnight and still function easily the next day.

as a mom of 5 I definitely can relate to where you are at. My 4 oldest are on their own now but I still have my youngest in school. The life of a stay at home mom is tough! I too did ebay years ago in my spare time ( I was employed outside the home at the time) I stopped ebay because of the crazy fees it wasn't worth the time and effort that it took. Personally I need sleep and I don't go online when everyone is sleeping. Maybe I should try it. I don't drink coffee much anymore like I used to when I worked outside the home. Maybe it will help keep me going and increase my work time, lol! enjoy your children because although I remember what it was like as if it was yesterday, it wasn't and it went by way too fast. thanks for your response!

I just joined mylot a couple of months ago and I only heard of it because of a friend of mine. I am really liking it here although I wish I could make more time for it. I usually try to get on for a few hours when the kids are in school and then after they go to bed. I will try to jump on between three and nine but I don't always get the chance. I know that once the summer break comes my mylot time will be cut even shorter. But I am just trying to make a little extra spending money so I still might be alright.
I would love to be able to make a bit more money on the internet since i am a stay at home mom but I think it is really hard to do, it is definitely harder if you are trying to live off of it or pay bills with it.
There are a few sites on my profile page that I have joined and made payout from, they are not huge payout but what I like to do is keep it in my paypal account and then use it to buy things I may want online. Good Luck!!!

Well I have been only here for about a week now. I have the same problem you have. I try to work in the morning when I get up and that is at 5am during the week getting som me time lol be fore te suns up, with kids to get ready for school and to the bus. Then I am able to get time in after they go to school almost like and 8 hour day. But from about 830 in the moring until about 3pm. I do get time in but its not easy cause I sill have a preschooler and she is 4 and does not leave the house til about noon to do to school so I really
only get about 2 1/2 un-interupted work. Ok i may have to rethink my strategy. Then I get some time in when they are in bed which is about 9. So yea it is hard but I just try to get as much into the time I have when I am here. Um I dont think this was much help lol but at least now you know your not alone in the struggle lol
