What IS the purpose of life?

I have heard this many place over the years, but have never really collected a wide array of answers about this topic. I am curious as to what people believe to be the purpose of life. I also would like to know if you feel you have a specific purpose. Thank you all for your responses. This is something I have been thinking about for a long time.

I feel that the purpose of life is to live the best that we can and be the best we can for ourselves as well as others. The Good book say to Give God praise in ALL things...our trials and tribulations are what make us whom we are. If handled with a good attitued....an attitude of graditued...things will go more smoothly. No-one said life would be easy...but alot of it is our OWN making.

I don't think you were looking for the words "attitude of gratitude". I believe you mean be humble in who you are. I don't think anyone would feel gracious if they were being tried, or treated poorly by another. I think one should be humble with who they are, no matter how much they claim to thump the Bible. No one is above God. God sees all.

There are many Job s in this world...and God does see the heart of all people. The Bible also says Judge not lest you be judged...and you are only forgiven if you forgive others..........as for me....I forgive and love those around me all the time...some things are harder to forgive but through patience works love.

The purpose of life is to live it!! Life is a journey made up of decisions that you make on a daily basis. Like one philosopher once said "Life is a journey to live not a mystery to solve."
I believe everyone has a set path of life and everyone has a task to complete so I say live your life to the full, enjoy one day at a time and make every breath count. You only have one life, one chance.. use it to the best of your abilty.

Life has many point of views, weather it be scientific, religious or atheistic views...
I guess the one that I adhere to is that God was so loving that he needed to share this love within him...he couldn't without creating separate entities from himself which is life. For being human I guess our purpose is to serve and love god and love ourselves and love each other. Most of all we have a responsibility to each other because in a sense we are all one and the same, we came from one creator and it is our responsibility to take care and watch out for our fellow men.
But then again that is my ideals and never the reality that we live in, but isn't it a good dream to have. It is a sad existence if we follow the view of life's purpose is to procreate and just to keep on surviving, we then see ourselves just a part of a selfish organism called existence and its struggle to keep itself sustain.
So that is why I would rather believe that God created us to share whatever love he has for us and we should also share that love with each other and everything within our existence :)

The purpose of life is to enjoy it to the utmost level, making choices, sticking to where you're comfortable with, and please don't mind what other people say (advices are good though). Living a good life is what matters.
Afterlife or No Afterlife, it's our responsibility to enjoy whatever we have right now so in the end, we won't have any regrets, in case there's no afterlife that is!
