Buying products from Craigslist, how reliable are they?

There were many news that seems so unpleasant about craigslist buy and sell. There were too many criminal cases involved with them. I want to purchase a GPS system for my car; a friend of mine recommended me to look for craigslist, but I have second thought abotu it. I just wonder how reliable those sellers on craigslist?
