Can our pets get the Swine Flu?

I know there has been so much talk of this Swine Flu going around. I'm not too scared because only one person in the USA and Canada had to be hospitalized, last time I heard the news anyways. It only seems that those in mexico are deathly ill. But I am concerned about my animals. Do you know if it is possible for them to catch it? To my understanding, the word swine means pig, so this is a pig flu. But aside from pigs. Could my 3 cats or 1 dog catch this flu, and how dangerous is it to their health?

I have that same concern. I am really worried about my dog. I live in Belize and the swine flu has not reach here, but when it does if it does i will keep my dog locked inside because that way i feel he will be safe.

Thats a good idea. I should probably do the same, just to make sure. Unless of course I get it, then maybe outside would be the best place for my pets, lol.

I'm not sure but i think that there's a big chance for our pets to get infected by Swine Flu. Afterall, the flu came from animals right? If it can infect humans then i think it can infect more on pets. My dog Moochie eats pork so we're trying to be cautious about it though it's not alarming yet here in our country because we're not yet infected and there are just few isolated cases of Swine Flu here. If you cants and dog eats pork, then you should be careful. If not, then i guess they're safe unless someone around the vicinity is infected.
