Let's put arguing aside and discuss what we can do to FIX the problem...

Everytime I get on here I see another political debate on who's fault our current crisis is. It doesn't matter who you want to point fingers at, the government as a whole is responsible for a lot of what has happened and the debt that the United States has acquired no matter what president is in office. What I want to know is how do we *average citizens* fix this? I'm not denying anyone that they don't have a right to complain, gripe, argue, with one another on here (thankfully we still have freedom of speech), but for those that have all the answers explain to me what we do. I don't think there is an easy fix out here for what we are facing but if there is something that citizens can do then I want to know!!!
We spend so much time on here arguing on who is to blame. It doesn't matter anymore who is to blame and who isn't. Bush is no longer in office and Obama is. They both have put us into debt. We are facing a serious crisis and many Americans just want to know what to do. If we can't get the "change" we were once promised how do we go about changing what we aren't getting?

The solution is quite simple, START FOLLOWING THE FRIKKIN CONSTITUTION .
Nearly EVERY problem this country has can be directly traced back to NOT sticking to the plan laid out by our founders. It isn't rocket science, it isn't hard to follow, 18 assigned dities and a REEEAAAL easy to read and short job manual and company policy, why did they ever make it so frikkin complicated.

Maimilady, some was good intentions, others were simply grabbing more power.

The ban is for semi automatic weapons, automatic weapons are already ilegal.
As to the rest of your comment, We must, absolutely must start taking this country back at the state level, the federal government has no power the states don't give it. We MUST get our states to stand up to them. The problems began about the time people started running to the federal government to solve our problems that should have been dealt with at the state and local level, as a result, our states and state governments began to become impotent and now we have a nation of people who erroniously believe that many of our problems should be dealt with at the federal level. And of course, the more responsability we gave the federal government and the more authority we gave it, the worse things got and the more corrupt is became. The geovernment does not derive authority from itself by virtue of it's existence, it is derived directly from our states and people, with out the states consent, it does not even exist. But it is not enough to change who we send to Washington, we MUST be more concious of who we elect at the state level, elect people who will stand up for our states and their citizens.
Look in to state soviergnty resolutions, roughly 20 states have one form or another in the works, it is a resolution passed by the state legislature that redelcares and affirms it's rightfull authority under the 9th and 10th amendments, and once they are passed, they must be strictly enforced, it isn't enough to pass one then put it on the shelf as a conversation piece.

Thank you for the clarification. I knew it was something along those lines but I couldn't remember... I will look into that and try and get more involved. To me it is more so finding the direction I need to go to make a difference. We have so many that want to say well he did this or that. I feel as if we don't want history to repeat itself we need to figure out how to make that change to break the cycle and get back to where things are comfortable for all.

Great discussion. I can't wait to see the replies that come in.
I definitely don't claim to have "all the answers" in fact, I have very few answers. I guess that is why I am not so critical of our government overall.
I feel that if I don't have any suggestions I don't have much of a right to criticize. That being said, I'll get to your main question now...
What should "we" do to make a difference? Start at home. Take responsibility for our part in this. Stop overspending. Stop relying on other peoples money. But don't completely close your mind to the idea of helping others either.
Everyone needs help sometime in their life...
Protests are okay, I guess as long as they are peaceful.
Doin our best to know what's going on and doing our best (within our means) to communicate what we want to those who need to hear it.
Obviously, some of us are more able to do these things than others.
Stop HATING others just because they may have different opinions or differnt beliefs....
LISTEN to eachother. Try to LEARN from eachother with an open mind.
Try to move FORWARD instead of dwelling on the past.
RESPECT eachother...even those who we don't think deserve our respect. You don't have to agree with someone to treat them respectfully...
Did I get off track? Did I miss the point of your discussion?

I'm pretty amazed by how few replies you've had to this discussion. Maybe I shouldn't be, but I still am. So many here really are outspoken about pointing fingers but they can't come up with any suggestions? That's pretty sad.
As the saying goes, if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Pointing fingers is NOT the solution. Working TOGETHER is at least a start! Thanks for the discussion.

You are so right about this. I'm baffled that no one really responded to it, but that's the thing so many outspoken people who want to point fingers don't know what to do themselves... Kinda apparent when I post a discussion and no one but three/four people respond to it. Either that or no one likes me, haha. I just wanted an honest answer from people. You do see so many people well he did this or he did that. Put that all aside for once and what would you do to fix it? That's all I wanted to know... Oh well. X gave me some good info and on another discussion where they were finger pointing I asked the same question and the tea party events came up again. I got a link I am reading into about them as well.

I keep saying, we are "One Nation" why do we keep acting as if we aren't? We want to be so quick to jump on pointing fingers to put the blame on people but we are all in this boat together no matter who started it, who finishes it, etc. We have all made mistakes along the way but we still want to focus on our past rather than what we could do to better the future. Who knows, maybe someone some day will come up with a brilliant plan to help us all - as a whole.
