Engagement Between Chase and Cameron

Does anyone else find it strange that Dr. Chase continually refers to his fiance as Cameron? I can understand colleagues calling each other by their last names, which seems to be the case with both of House's teams (with the exception of Thirteen). Why wouldn't you call the woman you love and are going to marry by her first name, Allison? Or at least refer to her as Allison while you are discussing the wedding and other personal things. It was just kind of bothering me during Monday's episode.

I think its just a popular thing to do within the work force. Especially that of the medical field. You hardly ever hear someone call a doctor by their first name, atleast not that I've been around. It's always their last names. I know her as "cameron" so if the show started running around calling her Allison it might throw me off guard for a minute. I missed Monday's episode... boo. But, I guess it would be logical that he could call her by her first name and vice versa but that's what he knows her as and what he calls her on a daily basis so it sticks.

I agree that colleagues would call each other by last names. I guess I must be too analytical with the shows I love. Once I heard their real first names, I made sure they stuck. Same with Kramer from Seinfeld, and what about the janitor in Scrubs?

Maybe the writers think we're too stupid to be able to remember two names for one character. I've heard Chase call her Allison before...maybe they're going for consistancy with the last name thing.

It's especially hard for those two since Robert and Chase are both first names and Allison and Cameron are both first names. I know when the show first started, I figured that Chase and Cameron were their first names. Have you ever heard Allison call Robert by his real name? I can't remember off hand. IMO, he looks like a Chase.

They probably do this because it keeps the viewers in touch with the character of Cameron. They don't use first names much in this show. Its the writers and the directors that control this.. would be nice to hear first names since in real life we work with first names of those we know.
