Do you have health insurance? I haven't had health insurance since I graduated college. Before then I was always on my parents insurance. Now that I've been graduated for 3 years, I still do not have insurance. My current employer does not offer it and I simply cannot afford it. Luckily I'm getting married this summer and my husband will have great insurance that I can then also get. Not having insurance bit me in the butt last year. I had a few hospital bills because I could'nt get a doctor. Those hospital visits cost me almost $1000. It's outrageous! I can't wait until I have insurance again.

I know what you mean.... when I worked in the office field then I had insurance for me and my husband since he is self employed, when I lost my job after 9/11 and there were no jobs out there we lost our insurance...and then I got pregnant and we got a low coverage for us... we had tons of payments after my son was born... then we had to drop the insurance because money became to tight... then 2 yrs ago I got pregnant again and we got another low coverage insurance that covered only about half of everything and again with the payments after... now this year since my hubbies job was effected by the economy we applied 3 times for state insurance and they finally accepted us...and 1 month later they dropped us.... ugh!!! it just doesnt work out for me!!! I will continue to see what I can find for our family and make money online this year so that I can find ways to help out with the bills so that we can get our own insurance this year. good luck to you and its great that you will soon be on your hubby's insurance.

I am out of college and since I can no longer be on my parents' insurance, I pay my own insurance out of pocket. I work full time, but am a contract employee, so I have to provide my own benefits. It's pricey, but it's worth it.

I don't have health insurance because no one will insure me. I have a chronic disease that could cost a lot if it escalates. I have a question, though... you said hospital visits cost you almost a thousand dollars. How much would insurance have cost you for the year?

The insurance for last year would've cost more than the hospital bills I had.

Hi Jennlk84, I am from Sweden, so we do not have that system with health insurance here. We pay taxes to use for that. We do not need to have any insurance other than for our kids when they spend their time at home. I also have an insurance for our home, and free time, and when we travel through my union I am a member of. However, Sweden has the higest payed taxes, and still there is lack of getting health care in hospitals. There are long roads of waitning people in need for health care. I think we should have that health incurance as You do in US. I think that would be better for us, we can choose wish hospital we like...we do not have to use the once the local community serv for us. Here is why, When I call the doctor when I need, I come to a voice telling me to give them my phonenumber and then they give me a certain time when they are going to call ME up. Then when they do, I talk to a nurse who are going to decide from my telling if I need to see a doctor or not. Mostly They say there is no more time for you...you have to use the emergancy that is in another town from where I live....Or I have to get back in a few days if I am not getting better.....if it is emergency...I have to use call for an ambulance......I heard today on the news...that the people responding to those calls are getting more paid if they can make the calls a short as possible...This is what I get for paying taxes....this whould not be the case if I payed for my on insurance....then I can choose where and which docktor I liek to see....

My fiance and I are both without insurance but are going to have to get it once we are married, I've actually posted a discussion asking for others opinions, etc, and if they know of any companies. If you happen to know of any I'd appreciate you stopping by the discussion, and of course if you don't and just want as much knowledge about it as possible, then stop on by too. I know that medical bills can be very much outrageous!
