Does anyone here listen to Jpop or Kpop--Japanese pop or Korean pop--music?
I listen to various types of music regardless of language and some of my favorite artists BoA, Utada Hikaru (she sang the theme for Kingdom Heart),Ayumi Hamasaki, etc.
A lot of music from Japan and Korea are influenced by western music, but somehow, I'm attracted to them anyway--more so than American music. I find it hard to listen to mainstream american music because they contain a lot of explicit and degrading lyrics (not all mainstream, but most). So maybe because I don't understand the language in other foreign music, it's easier for me to like the songs?
What do you guys think? For those who do listen to foreign music.
For those who don't, why not?

Im really into KPOP and JPOP. As for KPOP, I really like Super Junior, Dong Bang Shin Ki and the Wonder Girls. As of Super Junior, i like the variation of their group, lots of talents with in the group. And they seem to be a very fun group with all 13 of them, you wouldn't ask for more. I love DBSK too because all of them can really SING! They are all handsome and really tall and they have the best dancers Yunho and Junsu! Wonder Girls are amazing. They have the cutest songs and choreography. Other than that, i love their fashion, they must have a really great stylist. As for JPOP, im kinda old for this but i like Hey say jump. My younger sister loves them.Although i don't speak Japanese, i like the meaning of Hey say jump songs ( of course i learned them from translations).

I started listening K-pop just recently, at the beggining of october 2009. Just because I started my Korean studies. At first I was taken aback. It was like I entered totally different world. It took me some time to get used to korean music, because it was so different from what I was listening before. Now I'm deeply in love with k-pop which makes me quite ashamed because my older brother keeps laughing at me, saying this kind of music is really funny. But korean music isn't kpop only, there'are some great indie artists under this flashy layer.
I must say I like some kpop songs for it's stupidity. I mean, the lyrics are so ridiculous that you don't know if you should laugh or cry. But the beat is so catchy that in no time you find this song addicting.

Oh I love Jpop! Jpop is probably my favourite genre of music, and I listen to them all the time! I first got to know it from anime, because I'm an anime fan, and all animes have opening and ending themes, and those are usually Jpop. So yeah, I became addicted to it. Jpop is very youthful, upbeat and energetic, and that's what I like about it. My favourite Jpop band is Buono! A group of three teenage girls that are my age! I really like them; they are great singers and dancers!

I actually listen to a lot of different internation music from Kpop to Jpop to Thai and Chinese. I was first introduced to Jpop back in 2000 by a friend of mine. She made me listen to some Utada Hikaru and I was hooked. I didn't get into Kpop until a few years after that when my little brother introduced me to SES and FinkL. Nowadays, I mostly listen to anime related songs. I'm not that familiar with the Jpop scene aside from artists like Utada Hikaru, Sakamoto Maaya and Hamasaki Ayumi. I do however listen to a few different Jrock bands like L'Arc-en-Ciel, Glay, Buck-Tick and some others. As for Kpop music, I haven't really kept up to date with all those newer groups. I mostly listen to 1TYM, Fly to the Sky, Se7en and old school H.O.T. and SM Town music.
I also find Jpop and Kpop to be a lot better than todays' American music. Most of the stuff you hear on the radio are generic and lame. I'm an R&B fan but I can't really stand that R&B/Hip Hop thing they have going. If I were to listen to American songs, I would listen to old school stuff from the 90s.

I like Jpop or Kpop too. But not all of them. I like, especially, for those that become the soundtrack of anime. I like T.M. Revolution, BOA, and Ayumi Hamasaki. I like Inuyasha and Samurai X, and I like all the soundtracks that they have... Actually, I don't really understand the language. But I still like it. It feels different...
