I love eating pandesal in the morning. Before I go to school, I always stop by in our local bakery shop to buy some. I love their pandesal, freshly and newly bake.
Whenever I go to their shop, they always give me those big ones for a fair price of 5 pesos per pandesal. I am after all their number 1 customer when it comes to pandesal. The owner their is an old kind lady and she knows me for like years now.
Their pandesal is the best, I always eat it with cheese and hot Milo as a drink. I really love eating pandesal. Hehehe.
How about you? Do you love eating this bread?

we love eating pandesal here too... but since it had price increase, we cant afford to eat it everyday. we can only eat them once in a while, we are kind of saving money (nagtitipid) so we buy mamon na lang =P.
pandesal is 2 pesos each here, and we by the 40 pesos at least (so its 20 pieces), and my 7 year old son can eat 20 pesos of pandesal that is while walking from the bakery to our house, so by the time he gets home, there's only ten pieces left for me, my husband, and my daughter.
the pandesal here doesn't need to have any spread or cheese, as it really tastes good, the best pandesal ever. we love eating it just by itself, no more coffee or milo, or palaman (spread).

Pandesal.............
Hello Jayrene, I"m curious about this pandesal, can you describe it please? I would love to know if it's like a bread product or is it sugary or salty? Also can you make them yourself? I am really trying hard to cut down on my bread products. Be blessed.

hi ennid,
the pandesal is a bread... it's half the size of my palm... it's not sweet and it's not salty, there's a certain taste to it that only a pandesal has, i dont know how to describe it. but different bakers have different taste (only a slight difference, you wills till know it is pandesal you're eating), the one that we buy here, really tastes better than the others.
it is soft, but not like croissant... a bit (itsy bit) hard on the outside, and its full of air in the inside... because when you press it, it will really become flat right away, no kidding... lol. those other pandesals that are not as soft as the ones we have here, well they kind of taste different.
we like it hot when eaten, just out of the oven. but you can eat it also the next day, if its cold, the harder the outside part of the bread gets, we just put it in the oven toaster to heat it again and it will become soft.
now this description is based on our pandesal here.
the best way to eat the pandesal for others is to dip it in coffee, or milo. which i dont prefer because it makes the bread wet and when i put it in my mouth it feels like i've eaten something that came from the baby's mouth.. .yuck. but really, many people here like to eat it that way.
it is better partnered with a slice of cheese, and by the way, this is how we eat pandesal here with cheese, we dont put the cheese in the pandesal instead we hold the pandesal on one hand and the slice of cheese on the other hand. we then take a bite of pandesal and take a bite of the cheese, alternately... sounds weird, but it's just how we like to eat it. others are not like that though. we all have our own style. =)

I've never heard of it. What is it made of? Is it like sweet bun or something?

Well, it is just a normal bread. No additives, no sugar or whatever. You are just like eating normal loaf of bread. Hehehe.

I love eating pandesal, dipped to my coffee, lol!!! It reminds me of my grandmother in Samar. We'd spend the morning, chatting on the kitchen counter, dipping our pandesals to our coffee. She is no longer here though, but the memories remain...thanks to pandesal :-)

Me, too. Love eating pandesal. Not just in the morning but also during meryenda and at night. Though the quality of pandesal has lowered and price has gone up. A lot of varieties of pandesal has come up, but still the newly baked pandesal from the nearest local bakery is still the best.

I like eating pandesal too. That is the most common breakfast bread of Filipinos aside from loaf bread or fried rice in the morning. Pandesal is good when it is hot or newly baked.
Just to inform other myLotters, because I know that they can not relate to the topic.
Pan de sal - is a kind of bread that it is best to it when it is hot.
Pan means the cooking pan that you can see in the kitchen.
De means of
Sal means Salt

I like eating pandesal but not as a breakfast I gets hungry easily when I eat bread in the morning. I prefer to eat rice than bread. Bakery is very near to our house it is few steps aways but we seldom buy pandesal. The size is smaller than before and I'm not satisfied to the price. I missed the hot pandesal that I'm eating during my younger years in Pasay City. We always buy hot pandesal for merienda but here in our place they don't sale pandesal in the afternoon.

I think it became part of our culture to eat this delicious bread. And as Filipinos we have a lot of ways how to eat this bread.
Let start from the basic of eating this bread,
Coffee + Pandesal
How to eat it:
Tear the pandesal in the size that your mouth can acommodate but before you eat it, dip it firs to you hot coffee. Yummmmy....
Peanut Butter + Pandesal
How to eat it: Slice the pandesla in the middle and spread the peanut butter on it. Still. Yummmyy.
Butter + Pandesal
How to eat: Spread the butter inside the pandesal and Toast it in a frying pan or Oven toaster.
and we still have a lot of ways on how to eat it. These are just the basic ones.

hot pandesal with dairy creme plus a cup of coffee or even just plain hot pandesal plus hot drinks would make a perfect breakfast. Every early in the morning boys in their bicycle roam around the subdivision to sell hot pandesal. It's more appetizing having hot pandesal with hot coffee as for my early breakfast.

My place is less than 500 meters away from a bakery that serves hot pandesal every morning. I'm so lucky because hot pandesal and hot coffee is my favorite breakfast. I like pandesal with peanut butter or coco jam or if available, strawberry preserve. My nephew and niece want pandesal with cheese or star margarine. But I can still eat lots of pandesal without any filling as long as it is hot and I have hot coffee to go with.

Hello good day to you taki_takaishi! Here in our country in the Philippines, I guess there is a great number of Filipino who really love eating pandesal and I can say that you are already with the number of Filipino people who love eating Pandesal. As I know eating Pandesal is one proof of being a citizen of our country Philippines because of the taste of pandesal which really good when it's hot and freshly baked like what you have told, by the way due to popularity of this native bread the demand of it to people really increase. Even though we are facing problems here in our country especially to the high cost of goods in the market.
As I remember when I was in Elementary and in Grade of three just like you, every morning I always go to the nearest Bakery shop just to buy some freshly baked bread, the reason why I need to go in the morning as early as I can because of the demand of it in our community, that's why we need to go early before the sun rise. Well, as I remember my favorite match when eating breakfast with pandesal is the hot chocolate drink because it enhance the good taste of the bread, then with my pandesal I always go put "Daily Cream butter" because it gives more taste to the bread. Well, until now that I am in College there are times that I also still buy pandesal in the morning but not as regular with the past. One reason why I am no longer a regular buyer of the bread it's because of it's small amount now and the high cost of it which about TWO PESOS but in the past it only cost 50 CENTAVOS! Well, what can we say, it's really far from the past the cost and amount of it because of the trials that our country was facing. Even with this trials, I still believed that our country will resolved this matter and we will enjoy the good taste of pandesal again with it's normal size and cost! I have no more things to be say with this but I'm proud to myself that I'm a pandesal lover. Thank you! Happy posting and happy earning to everyone of us here in mylot.

i love pan de sal every morning! especially when it's hot too, but i want it soft and warm, then with a glass of milk, it's all fine. in our local bakery, it's 1 peso per pan de sal, but it's not big, just two bites. it's my family's habit to eat pan de sal every breakfast. but i don't put anything on the pan de sal. just eat it plain. anyway it's just my way of eating it! happy earning!
