How would you know that is a scam site?

There were thousands of paid - to - websites. Some people claimed it as a legit site with substantial payment. Someone told that it is a scam site, never join it. Sometimes, you can't decide whether to join it or not, or who to listen to. How would you find out whether that is a scam site or not? One thing I know for sure, never pay for any money in advance. What else do I need to consider?

You can do searches to see how long they have been around and how their reputation is. There is also a site GPTBoycott.com -- check it out to make sure they're not listed.
