Importance of Cricket in India

How important is cricket in Indians' lives? Do you think Indian authorities gloss over other games due to glamour of cricket? Despite being India's national game, hockey remains below the bottom of common man's interest, why? So why not advocate for making cricket as India's national game? Express your opinion. Thanks

Being an Indian I know what you are talking about. In India everybody wants to be a cricketer. I have not seen many kid playing anything other than cricket. I think the reason behind it is the glamuor that is involved with cricket. All the cricketers are given so hype that we have almost forgotten that hockey is our national sports. I think the authority should promote the game properly so that people become aware and interested about it. Otherwise it is better to change the national game to cricket.
