I just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my question, "How can I help a person with 26 cats." I received some very good ideas and possible solutions. We have set up a plan to get the cats she wants to keep fixed, as well as find places to take the other cats. It turns out that there is a rescue shelter near her home. We visited it and they agreed to take some of the cats. We have also put ads in the newspaper, and local free classifieds. So far we have received a few inquiries. We still have to contact more no-kill shelters, and get the outside cats fixed. This has been difficult for my relative but I have convinced her that it is best for the cats and for her. She will be able to take better care of two cats, more so than having to care for a larger number of cats. It doesn't take very long for things to get out of hand if you don't get the cats fixed. Again, thanks to all who gave their input, it helped me to formulate a plan for fixing the problem.

I am so glad that you were able to put your plans in action. These stories don't always have a happy ending. And I'm glad your friends here were able to help.
