Ever competed for a loved one's attention against a younger family member?

I have seen this happen many times before. And once I was guilty of this. I was probably about 5 years old and my cousin just came into the picture. She was younger, cuter, and getting the attention of everyone in the family. I tried making myself the center of attention so that the family would notice me and not that younger cousin. Have you ever done something like this? Have you ever competed for the love of another family member against someone younger?

No, never.. yes, i do have a younger sibling and 1 month old nephew but i don't compete for a loved one's attention against them.. in fact, i am very much happy with the way things are.. i am contented with what i have right now and everytime i see the younger members of the family happy, i am happy as well.. as the older one, i make sure to provide them some of their needs like cute bags and flip flops for my sister, diapers and baby clothing for my nephew, etc..
