I hate this habit of many peoples... That day,I was walking by the footpath, when I saw a person who was driving a car spitted from the window and it fell on a old man walking by the road. I felt so angry on the man that used some slangs against him in my mind,as he drove away very fast...

Spitting in public indeed is a very bad habit. And the bad thing is that this habit is very common among Indian people. The incident you saw is quite common on roads, with pedestrians often being the ones suffering. This does not only cause inconvenience to others but also makes the surroundings dirty and disease prone. The government needs to go firm on this and come up with some really tough laws that prevent such fowl acts.

Spending money on banning spitting for health reasons is just money out the window. Not understaning how bacteria and viruses are transmitted

I think you are little aware about ill effects of spitting. It does cause disease, specially Tuberculosis. I am not sure about shaking hands and talking though, but this is for sure. You better have a look here: http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-80563693.html and http://niazi.com/Neurons/spitting.htm Also, money spent on getting rid of this fowl habit is of its worth. Its always better to prevent a disease than to allow it to catch up and then cure. Money is spent in either cases, with more pain and suffering in the latter case.

I have observed many people indulging in spitting in public places. This is not only a bad habit but also unhygienic. There are places for spitting if at all one need s to. But avoiding those can and spitting in public place is unwarranted action I believe. I never do so.

Shaking hands is unhygienic than spitting. Spitting is just not socially accepted. If you take this to the extreme you are better of beening spitted in the face by somebody than shaking there hand.

Hi, you seem to be all arms against 'shaking hands' ( I guess you hint at the greeting one) Any reason?

I don't think shaking hands can be compared to spitting.Shaking hand is a gesture to meet and greet people, which is followed everywhere. So,spitting is insane on any man's part..

You are right jimmy this is really a very bad habit and the person who spits on road or at others wall they never do it with their home or office, they should be punished with monetary fine then only they will get a lesson because it gives a very bad view when some one spits and make the place dirty

To fine bad habits is just money out the window. It costs money to pass/uphold these "ridiculous" and nobody follows them either. And btw spitting on a place don´t make it "dirty" no more than opening a doorknob with you hand.

Yes, I hate it when people do that.. i mean, if you want to spit then use a tissue paper.. don't spit in public, for heaven's sake.. didn't all those kind of people know that saliva contains thousands of germs? yay! disgusting!

yes but you spit contains ONLY YOUR germs. You hand contains YOUR germs and EVERYBODYS germ that you have shaked hands with. And That person has shaked hands with more persons and you get thoses germs too...and so on to infinity. This is fine if you use baisc hygiene, but I´m betting that somebody in that chain is NOT.

I really hate people who carelessly do this. Spitting in public is not really good and disgusting. It's unethical and it may cause a spread of communicable diseases. I think making a law that would put people who spit in public in jail will be great so that they will never try to do it again. ^^

me too...i hate people who spits. one time, i saw my friend did that and right then and there, i told him not to do it again because it is not good and it would make you disrespectful to the place, person you're with. there should be a law in fining those who spits so they will learn a lesson. lol

I have a problem with people focusing to much "bad" habits of other people. The Bad part is objective. It´s habits. Like common social habits are "Bad" if you just look at the health aspect.

But you may need to spit in public if you don´t whant to swollow the execc saliva. There are many situations that more saliva is produced in the mouth. Example when you brain thinks it´s going to get food. Exaple when you walk by Mcdonals (if you like fast food) and you smell the "fast food smell" the brain this it´s going to get food and start producing more saliva. But there a ways of spitting discretly if you don´t like swallowing it. Not doing it out the car window like in your example =)
