Why don't you try reading books written by Anne Rice? Almost all of her works are about vampires. The movie "Interview with a vampire" was taken from her book. I haven't read any of her works yet but maybe I will in the future.

Well, my favorite vampire series would be JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. The seventh was just released last Tuesday.
It's about vampire warriors protecting their species from extinction. They are paranormal romance novels, almost veering towards urban fantasy. The prose is modern and edgy, the characters are larger than life, the romance is sweet and sexy, and the whole series is very, very addictive...so consider yourself forewarned.
Although I enjoyed reading the Twilight saga, I consider it more as too Young Adult for me sometimes. I prefer the grit of Ward's BDB world. I highly recommend this series.

Another option you muight try is in the genre of fan fiction. Websites like Fanfiction.net and DeviantArt.com have many such stories written by average folk and free to read. Be warned not everyone is a good author or pays due attention to basic quality (grammar, spelling, punctuation) so peruse before you settle. When there search for "Twilight" or "Anne Rice" or some such keyword.
Deviant Art would also be a good place to do a general search for "Vampire" in the stories category, there is a nice selection or original non-fan fiction there.
Hope this yields something worth a bookmark. Happy surfing!
