I have noticed alot of commercials stating the need for plasma for newborn babies. I would donate. They say that they pay up to $500 a month also. I would donate regardless just to help the babies.

My husband is A negative and I do not think he donated any plasma, mostly whole blood, but that was a while ago. I think that most of those who donate plasma are Type O or the universal donors. I always thought that donations were free. Don't you mean that people selling their plasma?

My husband didn't donate it for free, but he sure sold plenty of it. This was long before I knew him, and he said that these plasma sales brought in enough money to pay some much needed expenses for him, and even leave him with a little bit of spending money leftover.

They do not pay for it where I live now, but when I lived in Utah, many years ago, I did it. I was a struggling college student at that time and it definitely helped to buy groceries. Plus, the plasma is used to help others. Currently, I donate whole blood for nothing more than some juice and cookies afterwards. It doesn't pay financially, but the rewards are still great.
