I have used windows and mandrake linux before and I still prefer windows because i think it is still more user friendly and there are a lot of support articles for all (or most) error messagees. How about you? what do you prefer and why?

personally i'd still go for windows xp.. i'm not exactly a vista hater but its simply consumes too much resources.. and the techie that i am.. resources mean a lot to me, specially when i'm workin on something..

I would always prefer to use Windows XP.
I have used since very long time. I am Software Programmer so I require Windows XP only because some softwares are not supported by other Operating Systems.
Also XP is more user friends than any other Operating System.
As far as interface in concerned I have downloaded a Vista Theme Pack.
So interface is also pretty cool.

I've been using Windows since the very beginning (Was a MS-DOS user). A few years ago I tried a Mac (was OS 8 at the time) and I falled in love. I'm still a Mac user and won't quit it for Windows. Actually Vista is a pale remake of Mac OS X. I still keep a Windows machine but I mostly use it as an Internet proxy server. I gave a try recently to some versions of Linux and found out that they were still in the early development stage in the sense that their usage could be opaque to many users.
My overall advice : if you find an operating system you are at ease with, stick to it but if want the best, buy a Mac.

I prefer XP, tough I'm slowly shifting to windows 7, the time has changes, XP cannot bring the full potential of my computer anymore, and I decide it's time to move on to something new.

I think Windows XP is the best. Easy to use, can be easily understood and widely used.
