Has Anyone Written And Marketed Their Own E-Book?

Hi, I find e-books very interesting lately. I know how to write one. I don't have a problem with the writing. I have had a lot of material published in the past, so I know how to write. Plus, I know how to load into e-book format and password protect, etc. I suppose I would really like to know more about whether anyone here has written an e-book and marketed it on his or her own? If so, what were your experiences in this endeavor? Were they positive, negative? What worked for you? And so on. Thanks for any input here.
