How Old Is Your Computer?

In August of 2008 I got a brand new laptop with Windows Vista, and all the other bells and wistles that come with brand new computers. Last week however, the damn power port blew, and I have no way of plugging it in to charge the battery. No battery, no useful computer.
Anyway, as a backup my husband and I are using my Uncle's old computer, an Acer which is about 12 years old, and slow as a freaking snail. I just now got it to log into MyLot. It takes forever. Hubby has it running better than I did before I met him, since he worked in I T for most of his life. It's so nice to have tech support on hand at 3 AM.
So, my question to you is this. How old is your computer?

The home PC is about 5 years old but its got a new hard drive that's still a baby, 2 years old, but I still have an external hard drive just in case. We have a laptop that's about 6 months old and a new laptop that's about 1 month old.

I got mine in October of 2008. It was part of a scholarship that I received to go to school. I've had to replace the power cord because the adapter split and wouldn't stay plugged in. Other than that I love my laptop! I did however request that they NOT put vista on it, because I don't like the programs.

The laptop I am using was purchase in January of this year, and my desktop was built by my son in law back in 2003. I don't use the desktop to much thuugh as it just isn't as convenient as the laptop, and I can't carry the desktop around either lol. I like my laptop, and I have already had to reformat it once, as someone hacked into it and messed it up. I just hope that it doesn't happen again, but so far so good.

My computer is quite young in comparison... about seven years old, or just coming up to seven years. I don't have too many problems with speed and connection but I'm sure if it were newer, it would be faster still.
Brightest Blessings.

Hmmmm how old... it depends on which one. My desktop is really old in its original design, but pretty new in terms of what's inside, because we just got a new hard drive, mother board and cpu before Christmas. It's doing great and hubby got my old hard drive - bigger than the one he had -.
My laptop was about 4 years old but it started quitting last week. Black screen although if I looked really hard and from an angle I could see that the image was there, just not enough to use the darn thing. It happened once last weekend, but then it started working again, with the same bright and perfect display it had before. I am glad that I have everything backed out because yesterday - after a full week of working great - it happened again. Hubby checked it and .. well, lets just say that it might work again, but it's not a guarantee.
Hubby dear just took me to the store to buy another one today. We got a very good price on a toshiba - my old one was e-machines -. The only thing that I don't really like that much is that it comes with Vista, but I'll see how it goes, if it really bothers me much still I will prefer to reformat and install my old XP.
In terms of computer age, the older one is hubby's desktop, the newer one, not counting my new laptop is my son's desktop. Hubby really outdid himself putting everything together on that one. Really strong gaming machine .

My laptop is about 2 year old and is starting to die, so I am buying a new one. I have fixed it once when it is was covered by warranty, but now it is not I do not see the point in paying for to get it fixed when it is only going to break again. I would rather get a newer model and give this one to my younger sister.
My computer is about 4 years old and runs really slowly but does not show any other signs of breaking, but since I am moving out soon there is no point me getting attached to the computer.

i've had a Vaio laptop for 3 years now. It's a little slower, needs cleaned up a bit, but I haven't had any other problems. I've got a Vaio desktop that's close to 7 years old now, and it works fine as well. I think it depends a lot on what kind of computer you get. I can't make myself trust a computer that costs under $1000.

Well, my Dell laptop is about 5 years old now and although slow it still works even with a million photos loaded on it (I really need to clear some of those off). Before this I had a Compaq desktop that I worked hard and heavy for 9 years before my son killed it with myspace.

Wow! I do not envy you.
But then again, I was in the same spot around
Christmas this past year.
We ended up buying a new computer and that crashed too.
Best idea would be to run a registry cleaner on your
computer and fix the errors. That will speed things up.
Best wishes
Later
