what kinds of books do you collect if any?

Do you collect any particular kinds of books? Do you only collect a particular author's titles? I used to collect old school books. I enjoyed perusing through them now and then. I especially enjoyed old Math, English and History books! I even had some music books at one time. I had to simplify my life so I gave them away. Now I only collect classic books. I am particularly fond of classic Christian authors. I have a wide range of authors but I have the most by Andrew Murray and Oswald Chambers. I have a couple of R. A. Torrey books too. Do you collect anything in particular in your field of interest?

I collect new age books and books about travelling. I love travelling and over the years I bought quite a lot of Lonely planet books and other guidebooks. I also have many dictionaries and phrasebooks from different countries. I have many new age books and my favourite author is Wayne Dyer. I don't have all of his books yet, but I would like to get them all and when I visit a new shop I always look for his books. I also have books written by Louise Hay, Deepak Chopra, Stuart Wilde and other similar authors.

It sounds like you have quite a love for books; and some very interesting topics! I may have to think about collecting dictionaries and phrasebooks from other countries! That sounds like lots of fun! Thanks for sharing!

Razorbacks! That is really cool! I enjoy sport stories too, I don't necessarily collect them though! I do read some sports magazines! I always enjoy a good story of how someone overcame some huge obstacle to achieve. Sports stories are full of those scenerios!

I collect crime, murder mystery and horror stories; usually those by my favorite authors. My collection at last count, is about 400 books; I can't bear to give any away. And since I'm often hanging around bookstores and book sales, I would most probably buy more books. So I would have to buy more shelves, and look for space to store them.

I hear you on that! I can't seem to part with any of my books! I usually am in the market for shelving as well! I do not know how many books I have. I have a friend who has about 1000! Every room in her house has book shelves!

When I was a child, I read many books written by Enid Blyton. However, when adult, I began to read many novels written by famous authors such as Sidney Sheldon. The Naked Face, The Other Side Of Midnight and Rage Of Angels is my favorite novel. The last two years I so fascinated with The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons which was written by Dan Brown.

Sounds like you've done a lot of reading! That's awesome. There is nothing quite as rewarding.. and sometimes as challenging!

I don't really collect books. I do have all the Lord of the Rings books though, I also have all of Dan Browns books. I don't generally go out to collect books though. I just end up with a whole series because I usually read one from a libaray and decide to buy the rest. I do collect some magazines (i am a regular subscriber) but those arent really books.

My daughter "collects" like you do! She reads a series and they all end up on her shelf! I do not know of any "series" I actually. I collect more "authors" I think. I love going to used book stores or Goodwill and such. I can spend hours looking through the books looking for a list of authors I keep in my head! I haven't thought about if magazines are considered "books" or not....

LOL! On your magazine collection! I need to find a good place to donate them. When my son was in the hospital and i was staying with him, I donated the magazines I purchased to their little "cart" library. I hope somebody enjoyed reading them!

I am not familiar with "Walking from EAst to West" by Zacharias. I have heard and looked at some of John Eldredge's writings. And I used to have all of Max Lucado's books. In God came Near, there is a story about how he found some candles in the basement and none of them wanted to share any light! It was a great allegory of how a lot of church people act sometimes! My first MAx Lucado book was "Gentle Thunder" after that, I was hooked! He's great!

I don't collect books. And, I don't read nearly as much as I used to or as much as I'd like to. I will sit down with a good book every now and then,But it's not very often. When I do read, I like horror/suspense/thriller. I like Stephen King and Dean Koonts. I also like Robin Cook. I also, on occasion, like to read some of the old classics like Charles Dickens and Mark Twain.

Yeah, Mark Twain was one of my favorites. I also enjoy some of the poetry from times past, including Edgar Allen Poe. He was actually a genius... although very weird to most people. I think I used to read a lot more too! Maybe I can read more in the future. Perhaps I need to plan more time for reading, as I really do enjoy it!

I like collecting books by a local writer named Bob Ong. He is a Filipino author and I have a complete collection of his books. I love his books because they are full of funny and factual information about the lives here in Philippines. It is written in Filipino so I appreciate it more because I understand every single word. When it comes to English books I like those of Dan Brown because I like the way he writes stories. I only have one which is the Deception Point given to me by my husband as a Valentines gift last year. I can't afford to buy his other books and so I only download some of them from the internet. Unluckily I have no time reading them yet because I prefer reading books before sleeping. Our laptop here is connected to the internet hardwired and so there is no way for me to carry this and bring this in the room. Anyway I now when I got work again, I will be able to buy a cellphone that can read e-books. So I can read the rest of Dan Brown's books especially Angels and Demons. I am done with the Da Vinci Code when I was still in college.

Collecting local authors is fun too! I have a favorite author I collect -he is from my home state of Oklahoma, although I no longer live there. He writes children's books actually, but they are very entertaining. They are usually from the perspective of animals and contain life lessons. I hope you get your phone so you can continue to read the books you enjoy!

I guess I would have to say I do collect books. I love to read, my favorite authors are Lurlene McDaniel and Janet Evanovich. One is an author of last wishes and humans sick with cancers and other things and life stories and because I have lifelong medical issues it was always good for me to read those books and the other author is great at writing more of a comedy/drama which always makes a good story and keeps the time going.

It is good to enjoy different genres! It breaks it up so you are not reading the same thing every time! I like life stories sometimes too! Actually, I think those make better movies sometimes too!

Sounds like you enjoy just about everything!! That's great! I have several different versions of the Bible and read them all at one time or another! I use different versions in my studies! A book does have to really catch my interest! It has to grab me in a couple of pages or I will put it down and not pick it back up!
