I'm talking about the myLot smileys. Remember the time you reached 200? I bet you were as eager as the egret () to use the smileys or most commonly known as the myLot code?
But do you think there should be more?
Or do you think they should allow us to use more than 3 smileys per post?
Wachu think people?

Do I remember when I reached 200? Yep, vaguely, but there weren't smileys back then, so I didn't get to equate this milestone with anything at all really!
Do I think there should be more? Sometimes I think it could be nice to have a few more options, but the question really is WHAT?
Should we be allowed to use more than 3 smileys per post? Hmmmmmm, maybe one or 2 more per post, but that's it I reckon! If you allow too many, then people would go crazy with it and we'd all go insane!

James I am surprised
I thought you would jump at the chance to have a smiley with a flower for the ladies - being the gentleman that you are

Hi Theresaaiza! A mylot friend of mine tried to get mylot
admin to add some more smileys quite a few months ago and
their response was that they would think about it! So much
for that! And I doubt they will agree to let us use any more
than three either! I have no idea why, but that is just my
guess! You can try to ask them if you'd like! It couldn't
hurt!

I would actually like to use more than just three emoticons but, I guess we still have to stick to posting in a discussion so, I guess three is enough.
On my part, I really don't use the emoticons anymore unless I need to.. especially when I am asking, I use this emoticon most of the time.
And then, I use
(^_^ ) for happy
(^_^") slightly disappointed
(-_-") disappoiinted

However thanks for the list/ or diagram or whatever you call it. hehe. At least next time I will know what they mean. I thought that emoticon I copied abocve meant "shy".lol

I don't remember when I reached 200 and I believe there were none then. My memory fails me at times like this Theresa
I could think of (and would use) a few more. I would like a hug and a kiss and a flower. Not telling you what I would do with them though
I feel three is enough becuase otherwise many of us would use the maximum in every post and that could be annoying to some. I would be one of those who would use more if there was the chance (as if you hadn't guessed! )

Oh I see the myLot code was an added feature! (That is if your memory serves us right!)hehe
A hug a kiss and a flower....so you're a sweet person, eh? I hope the flower won't remind me of the cemetery though. heekheekheek
No, mysD, I haven't guessed. I didn't see it through that avatar of yours!

Well three is enough. Anything more than that is somewhat a form of spamming. Imagine a comment with unlimited smileys. I don't think anybody would be happy with it. It's to prevent abuse. myLot is making us understand that response should consists of words not smileys. You can use both but not too much smileys. For now, i should make the most of it before i'll be thrown again in Manila where i won't be able to use smileys.

But I'm sure, in the absence of words, you'd abuse the wub on practically every female organism here in mylot! Nyaha.....peace!

I'm not on MSN so I don't know how the smileys look like in there, but any reason why you try evading them? Perhaps they look annoying?

To be honest I never even noticed them until the other day and this is the first time I have used them. I agree that having a little more variety would be nice. I think that 3 smileys per post is ok, maybe a few more would be better, but I think if they allow unlimited smileys some people may just make long posts of smileys. Maybe it has something to do with the earnings .

About the earnings I definitely have no idea but you are right, other people might abuse the smileys. :-)

This is what I meant by expressive smileys. See that confused bugger after the word earnings at the end of the post. Doesn't it add a beautiful feel to the response?

Yes, it would be good to have a few more smileys no doubt. I cant exactly put my finger on the exact expressions right now, but many times I have felt the need for a few more. I have an email ID in yahoo and there are tons of cool expressions for every mood, ideally I would have liked the same at mylot and they should of course remove the limitations of max 3 smileys.

Let's just say this is what myLot thinks is best for all of us. Other people have expressed their fear that some privileges only cause further abuse. But yeah, sometimes, it would be a bit nicer if we could add like 1 or 2 more, right?

I think three smileys are just enough for each posting. Perhaps adding more would not be fitting already. Usually we use it to show emotions on things we post. I could not think of a post that would probably need a lot of smileys. Well, other would probably need more. But personally, I am thinking that it would come out irritating or annoying to have more smileys in one post.

I do agree with you that the post will be a bit annoying with so many things going on like smileys especially the ones that move. Sorry for the late reply. Been really busy/

Yes. I think we should get some more. I like the animated smileys that are present on Deviantart and I think it would be cool if myLot also got that code as it would make responding more exciting and expressive. Also I think that the max limit should be increased from 3 to 5 so that it feels good to make the response better with them small yellow things.

I'd love to see some different smileys added. I have the feeling that they limit them to three because of bandwidth. I've seen people "abuse" the smileys in chat rooms, using nothing BUT smileys and I'm sure they use a lot more bandwidth than words do.
But, geez, adding two more couldn't hurt, could it? While we're at it, how about three more... five more? They're FUN!

Well, very simply put, yes. Each server (like Yahoo, MSN, myLot, etc.) has a certain amount of bandwidth they can use each month. Incoming and outgoing things each use up this bandwidth. Photos and gifs (pictures that move) and streaming video use up more bandwidth than typed words. Once they've used up their alloted bandwidth, nothing can be done until they get more, usually the following month.
A lot of times, when servers say they are "upgrading", that means they're adding more bandwidth. I have the feeling that myLot has already had to do that a time or two since it has grown so fast.
A computer geek could explain it better than I can, probably. If my son were here, he could put it into easy to understand terms, but I hope I explained it so you can understand it a little bit, anyway.

Well thanks. And believe me you don't have to be a nerd to explain it effectively. I think you explained it pretty well. I already have a slight idea of what it means.

May I ask what bandwidth means? Is it the space that a certain character occupies?

Hi,
I'm still under 200 and i'm really eager to get smileys...
So i really have no idea about adding smilies right now and i think three smilies per post is far enough ;)
Cheers,

I like some of the smilies and those I use. But there are others I cant use even if they are cute. Take for instance this one. You can aonly use it with a friend in some circumstances. Sometimes, when I wrie too long, I forget and put more than 3 smileys. Mylot makes me eliminate one. It doesn´t matter much

hello theresaaiza
i hear ya about reaching the two hundred mark around here at Mylot and being able to use the mylot code, which like you said, is the mylot smileys. and i guess that the reason behind mylot only allowing us to have three smileys on one post is so that the site doesn't look overly crowded with the smiley faces. and i guess that three smileys are enough to have on one post. lol
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

Up until yesterday I didn't even know that I could use smileys or that I could that I could use them. See I didn't even know that you had to reach 200 or could only use 3 smileys. So I guess you can say I'm new comer using the smileys. right now I think 3 in enough, because to me if you use a lot of them it seams like it would take away from your post.

Yes, you can only use up to 3. It's sometimes very useful when you are trying to convey an emotion that words cannot express so I really have good use for them.

i don't really know. but sometimes i use two and i just used the smileys when i reach the 500+ posts here in mylot. sometimes i even used the bold the texts and the italic text. but not that much maybe i just think its just wasting my time. but most of the time now when i respond to my friends her in mylot i always put a happy smiley face every end of my response.
