What makes a book a book? Is it merely chapters? Perhaps it is simply printed pages. Depending on your definition of a book is a magazine techinically a "book"? If it's not considered a book, what is it?

Well I suppose that is how you personally classify things. If you think a magazine is a Book, then a magazine is a Book to YOU. (This apply to anthing) But I can´t see how a magazine does even come close to beeing a book...

well that would be the content (what ever it may be). So by this defenition. if you actually would take the content of a "real" Book. Printing it up and binding it as a magazine I´d suppose the would be a "Book"

A book is more in depth and covers the subject more thoroughly. A magazine is more of a snapshot or snippet view and only contains scant info on the topic. Excellent question!

Great answer! I think I agree at least on some level! Perhaps not totally though. Maybe a magazine covers a much broader topic than a book. A book concentrates on larger pieces of the whole, but the magazine slowly digests (no pun intended) much smaller pieces over much more time! ?

In my opinion a magazine is a creative book. A book that's more appealing to a wide range of audiences. The one thing that makes me mad about magazines is the catch phrases all these different company's try to use to make the magazine sell. For example: "Miley Cyrus sends dirty pictures!?". It just gets old seeing these obnoxious covers.

there are many types of magazines. I also do not like the titles they use on the front of the tabloids. But.. are tabloids magazines? Or would they be labeled more as newspapers? I enjoy themed magazines: Runner's World, Bicycling, Reader's Digest. I do like your opinion that a magzine is a "creative book." That's something to think about!

But.... some books are not thick. Think about books like Cliff's study notes. There is also a genre of children's books which are rather small, or thin. I guess we need to find a good definition of a book....
